A Show and Tell kind of day…

How are you?!!?  I have so much to show you today!! I have gotten SO {sew} many emails with your pictures of quilts and I am more excited than ever to show them to you!

Such a great quilt Sarah!! Love it!

First off Sarah sent me this picture of the first quilt she has ever made!!!  What a great quilt!  {you can’t even tell it was a first.  You should have seen the first thing I tried to sew.  YIKES.}  I just love the colors, so soothing.

Then…Check out this awesome table runner Kelly made for her Mom for Mother’s Day.

I love love love this line…and it looks so cheery as a table runner!

Kelly used our tutorial here and a Breath of Avignon charm pack. Thanks so much for sharing this with us Kelly!

Next up:  I got a sweet email from Barbara who had followed Mom’s video tutorial on making a baby quilt.

Barbara used a charm pack by MOMO from Moda fabric.  Isn’t it darling!?  You did such a fabulous job Barbara!!  Thanks for sharing.

Last but certainly NOT least is a sweet ‘Summer in the Park‘ quilt that Maria {from Australia} made using this tutorial.

How pretty!!

I love how sweet and simple the two tones of color makes it.

Thank you ALL for all the awesome quilts you make.  I am so glad that you have taken the time to email pictures to me! I really LOVE seeing what you all make.  I love hearing the stories behind the quilts….

I hope that you are all having a great week.

I am gearing up for Market!  CAN NOT believe I will be ‘outta here’ in only a week.  Where has the year already gone?!?!

Half Square Triangles…

Today is just one of those days, where I just want to play with my fabric!  You know what I mean?  Somedays you have very specific ‘projects’ you are making and other days you just want to be free with the fabric to create what you want.

Aren’t the colors just dreamy? Lovely, really is the perfect name…

I just love half square triangles for that very reason.  Pretty much, the possibilities are endless and I just LOVE that. (most-days, hahahaha)  Either way, I am having fun today, with this line by the amazing {and absolutely adorable) Sandy Gervais!  It is called Lovely.  And isn’t it, though?  It is the perfect line for Spring and Summer.  I think so anyway.

This is just one charm pack, and makes a great size table runner.  (not sure on the exact size, since it isn’t sewn yet.)  Laid out this way you have a few extra blocks.  Thinking I may make them into a pillow or a placemat or some coasters…who knows.  {ooh, or maybe a hot pad}

It really is….just one of ‘those’ days.  🙂

Hope yours is happy.

Hideaway…our theme for last week!

Wow!  We had quite the snow storm this last week!  I know, I know you’ve all heard about it already, but really.  I have never seen that much snow from one storm all at once before!  I also have to say that I LOVED that it snowed ALL day on Tuesday!  I hate (ok, not really hate) waking up to giant amounts of snow.   I just really like being able to see it fall, and enjoy it’s beauty.

The kids have basically had another vacation.  I’m not sure if we’ve had a full week of school since Christmas!  (obviously my brain is mush, and my weeks are running together, lol)  So, this week was full of sledding, movie watching and playing with toys.    My kids have another day off Friday (teacher work day) this week, and I think they are getting a bit spoiled by it all.

I got to play with some fabric, and that has been fun.  I used a Hideaway Layer cake, and am almost done with the top.  I really just have to pick a border and then have it quilted!!  I’ll post about the whole thing later this week, with some directions!  I know you all  love a good tutorial!  🙂

Do you see that cute yellow flower?!!?  That is a new camera bag I got!!  Oh my cuteness!  I love it!  The best part of it is that it fits BOTH my cameras!  That bag is a monster!  (a really, cute and happy monster!)

Anyway, I am crossing my fingers for a more productive week…full of meetings and deadlines (and meeting the deadlines)  hahahah.

I did get to order a whole bunch of new fabric on Friday night! Oh my goodness!  You are gonna love the new Christmas stuff Moda has coming out!  I can hardly wait to show you!

Have a wonderful-happy Monday!

Sarah

P.S.  Thanks so much for all the LOVE on our Moda Bakeshop debut!  It really was a pleasure to be a part of.

A Half Moon idea….{a jelly roll and charm pack}

Check out how cute this quilt turned out!  We used a Half  Moon Charm pack and a Jelly Roll, and just a tiny bit of Bella Solid Gray and WOW.  I am IN LOVE with the way this quilt turned out.   The lighting on the picture is bad (sorry) but I just had to show you this quilt.  It is for a girl whose colors are ‘ black and silver’ and I think this fits the bill!!

What projects are you working on?  The Christmas rush is now officially ON!  Are you prepared or running around like crazy trying to get it all done?  We have a few more ideas running through our minds that we will hopefully get done in time…..

Have a great Monday.

Make Life Happy!

We just got the new line, Make Life (by Sweetwater, for Moda) in our shop and let me say, it is happy and bright.  I love it more than I thought I would!  We couldn’t wait to cut into it and make something.

Natalie put together a quilt using this line and we wanted to give you the directions so that you can make one for yourself!  This is a great pattern and has very LITTLE waste!  You will almost use every piece of both the jelly roll and layer cake.

You will need:

1-layer cake

1-jelly roll

Directions:  First cut your layer cake squares in half (5X10″ pieces)

then cut your jelly roll strips into 10″ strips.  (each strip will give you 4- 10″pieces)  2 1/2 X 10″ strips

Once you have all the cutting done, you take two Jelly roll strips (matching pieces) and sew on either side of the 5X10″ strips.  (each block should have one layer cake piece in the middle, with a jelly roll strip on each side)

Continue mixing and matching jelly roll pieces with the layer cake pieces, till all your strips are sewn together.

Then take your block and square them up to nine inches.

All you have left to do is lay it out and sew the blocks together!  Alternate the blocks to create the pattern.

Here is a picture of ours before it is quilted.  We are still deciding on borders and will update you when we are all finished!!

Finished top (without borders) is 68 X 86

Have fun putting this easy peasy quilt top together!  When we are finished with this we will have a pattern for you to down load.  Have a great day!
