Color Wheel= Sunshine

So yes, its been snowing, and its really cold!  I don’t know about all of you but about this time of year I start to miss the sunshine 🙂 So, I thought, what could I do to brighten up my day?  Well sewing something usually helps and sewing something bright is even better!

I’ve been dying to use a Kona Solids Charm pack so here it is!

I took one charm pack and cut each 5″ square into a 2.5″ rectangle.P1010001

Then I took my dresden ruler and cut twenty of them into dresden plate triangles.

lovely scraps!
lovely scraps!

I assembled the Dresden plate and machine appliqued it onto a black background (15.5″ square). I also machine appliqued the black center circle.

Then I took the remaining rectangles from the charm pack and made a piano key border for the dresden. It measures approx. 25 inches square.

I still need to decide how to quilt it. and what color thread to use! (the really tough choices:) I absolutely love this little mini quilt! It is so bright and cheerful! and so easy peasy… This is a perfect project for a dreary winter afternoon! Enjoy!

All done!
All done!

The Friendship Star

How cool is this!?!?  I know.  It’s pretty awesome, huh.  (and so easy!)  I also love the way the Caroler looks against that white background.  What a cheery, happy Christmas Quilt! 🙂

Aren’t turnovers AWESOME?!!??! We love them.  And we’re pretty sure that you will too!  (the best thing since sliced…..well, um the best thing since Charm packs!  For sure!)   🙂

Enjoy.

A little show and tell…

Our Friday night ladies LOVE to show off what they are making!  We have been extremely impressed with them!  Here are a few projects that they have been working on.

A great stash buster. And I love the florals. Wow!

This is a floral log cabin, that is set to make a swirl pattern.  We all loved how she took a basic block and was able to modernize it.  Think of all the possibilities!

We love that she chose the Figgy Pudding line…perfect for a gift!

Check this awesome charm pack quilt out.  You may  have seen this in our tutorials already but….the idea is this:  take 5 charm packs, DON’T even cut them, sew them together.  I sewed mine in four patches, then assemble the top!  (told ya, easy peasy!)  Then cut your borders , 2-1/2 inches for the inner border and 5 inches for the outer border.  You will need 3/4 yard for your inner border and a yard and a half for your second border.  SO basically you are looking at total cost being,  $65.00 for your ENTIRE quilt!  Is that NOT exciting!??!  That my friends is WHY we love precuts!  🙂  Your finished quilt measures 62X81  approx.  It will really depend on how many charm squares are in your particular pack.  But it goes together in a jiffy, and leaves you excited to start a new project!  (and I love that figgy pudding line!)

She calls this the “getting her medication right” quilt!

Last, but certainly NOT least this amazing quilt is done by one of our ‘hand piece’ girls!  I kid you NOT….every seam, circle, curve…you name it, it is hand stitched.  (we have three of these ladies that will KNOCK your socks off, with there amazing work.  Their amazing stitches look better than if a machine had done the work.)  I am so impressed with them.

This quilt is on it’s way to Idaho to meet Kaffe Fassett himself.  Yes, yes this lucky lady has a fiance that got her one of the last seats to a workshop that Kaffe is doing in Idaho.  Seriously, the LUCKIEST girl ever!  I can’t wait to hear how it goes….

So, that is a little sneak peak into our amazing quilter’s we have out here…..

What have you been up to?  Any projects that have you busy?  Started in on Christmas gifts yet?   I’d love to know what you are doing….

Another Disappearing nine patch…

Okay, so the truth is out.  I LOVE the disappearing nine patch.  I have been raving about it like a crazy woman in the shop.

Seriously, is this not the BEST boy quilt you’ve seen in a while!?!?

Another thing that I just adore is when someone I have talked to about it, brings  back something she’s made and shows off her quilt top!  Those things combined equals the best.day.ever!!  😉 This amazing lady (who chose to conceal her identity 🙂 ) has already made two of these quilts.  (yes, I said two..and I think she’s planning on a few more!)  Her first was with the Soiree charm pack (Lila Tueller) and it was so darling!  Well, I just about had a fit when she brought this quilt in…..using our new Micheal Miller fabric and some bright Moda fat quarters!  I love how BOY it is….and how bright and fun it is!  Thanks Mystery Lady for stopping by to give me my very own show and tell!!

So, thanks again for stopping by to say hi and don’t forget to sign up for our giveaway…..and join us in the forums!!

{I promise we don’t bite…not too hard anyway!}

Easy Peasy……

This is the BEST beginner quilt ever!  So, so easy!  I took 5 charm packs (American Primer) sewed them into 4 patches then put them together!!  The only cutting that was involved was with the borders!!  So this top (5 charm packs + borders) total cost was under $50.00  Who can do that!?!?!?

And that my friends, is why I love charm packs!!!  🙂
