Apron Tea Towel Pattern

Recently Mom got a great idea from one of our local gals around a quick and easy apron. You’re going to have to use your imagination a little bit here, but it so so so so easy! And it’s super cheap! Like $3 bucks if you have some scraps laying around for the pockets and straps, how awesome is that!!

The video is a little lengthy because there’s quite a few steps, but it should be really easy to follow along, or if you like the written word, we had a lot of ladies asking for it on the forums so we posted it there (Tea towel pattern on the forums) or go ahead and grab it right here –

Color Wheel= Sunshine

So yes, its been snowing, and its really cold!  I don’t know about all of you but about this time of year I start to miss the sunshine 🙂 So, I thought, what could I do to brighten up my day?  Well sewing something usually helps and sewing something bright is even better!

I’ve been dying to use a Kona Solids Charm pack so here it is!

I took one charm pack and cut each 5″ square into a 2.5″ rectangle.P1010001

Then I took my dresden ruler and cut twenty of them into dresden plate triangles.

lovely scraps!
lovely scraps!

I assembled the Dresden plate and machine appliqued it onto a black background (15.5″ square). I also machine appliqued the black center circle.

Then I took the remaining rectangles from the charm pack and made a piano key border for the dresden. It measures approx. 25 inches square.

I still need to decide how to quilt it. and what color thread to use! (the really tough choices:) I absolutely love this little mini quilt! It is so bright and cheerful! and so easy peasy… This is a perfect project for a dreary winter afternoon! Enjoy!

All done!
All done!

Growing pains….(in a good way)

*IMPORTANT NOTICE – READ ME!!!*

Hey ladies!  You may have noticed that our site has been down for part of the day.  So here’s the deal … we have outgrown our old server and are in the process of upgrading to a new and improved server.  It’s like when you wake up one day and realize that you’re too big for your jeans, so you have to go to the mall in track pants to buy a new pair – you don’t like it, but you gotta do what you gotta do! 🙂  The new server will allow you to surf our site much faster and will prevent it from going down when you’re all on it at once (are old house could only fit so many people).  This upgrade will take about 24 hours, so if you the site is temporarily down, you’ll know why.  We apologize for the inconvenience and look forward to a better, faster site tomorrow!  Happy Quilting!

Baby it’s Cold Outside….

We are again home from school/work due to the weather we are having!  We got 3-5 more inches of snow on top of the stuff we got for Christmas, last night.  Today we woke  up to 30 mph winds bringing the temps to -30 degrees.  Yikes, negative thirty….really?!!?  Brrr!  Is all I have to say about that.

So we are home, sipping hot chocolate (yum) with soup simmering on the stove.  I have to admit I really am enjoying a reason to stay in.  Snuggle up with your favorite quilt, watch a movie (or 3), play games….you know.  The relaxing stuff.

The girls of course had other ideas and begged to do ‘projects’.  It is a lot easier now that they can mostly do that, without a ton of supervision.  I have thoroughly enjoyed letting them have creative freedom to make what they want.  So, that is what they did:

work and playThey are working on their own projects, and I am having a blast watching each of them develop their own style.

Better get back to my relaxing day 🙂

Whatever you are doing,  stay warm and enjoy.
