A fairytale….

A fairytale….

Wasn’t the wedding amazing?  I know, I know….some people will think I am crazy for getting up so early to watch, but I just had to.

The bonus was she {the wedding, actually} kept me on the treadmill an extra 30 mins.  So you see, I was also improving my over all health as well.  *snicker

What is it with our obsession with ‘Royalty’ ?  For me it is just the idea of the fairytale.  It is so fun to see the lives they lead.  I am sure that they wish sometimes to just live normally, like we all wish to be them for the day.  Wouldn’t it be great to trade?  {just for a bit}

Anyway, if you haven’t heard yet Quilt Market is happening in less than 2 weeks!  HOLY FABRIC!  I am so looking forward to being there and meeting up with all of our ‘Fabric Celebrities’!  Yes, yes Market is like the Oscars of the fabric/sewing/quilting world!!  It is so fun to see and meet the newest designers.  To see the new stuff.

I’m not gonna lie, I totally get ‘star struck’ when I am there too!!  My first time at Quilt Market I had a list of people that I idolized and couldn’t wait to meet!  Sandi Henderson, Amy Butler, Heather Bailey, Sandy Gervais, The girls from Sweetwater and Anna Maria Horner to name just a few.  They were all so, so sweet.

Funny though, now my list is bigger {as the quilting world grows} and am even more excited to go than I was the first time!!

I can’t even make a list now as it would be HUGE!

Who do you want to meet?  What would you say to them?  Is there anything about Market you are dying to know about????  I can try to get you the inside scoop, if you want.  Ask away, and I will try my darnedest to get answers!!

I hope you have a ‘fairy tale’ weekend!

~Sarah

ps. I can’t stop talking in an English accent.  I say, today we shall all speak in one. Please join me.  {see, I told you.}  I suppose now I will go clean my baaathroooom.

    I’m going to market too…and just like you…there are so many people I want to meet that I don’t even think it’s possible to make a list!

  • Sarah

    Sherri, I’d love to meet you. Will you be there for Schoolhouse too?

    I didn’t get up early but I watched it all morning and thought they looked very sweet. My BF scoffed and snarled like a typical male but I enjoyed watching it very much.

  • Sarah

    Hahah!! My husband thought I was crazy, too!! :)

  • Sarah

    Oh yes!! Those Ladies are wonderful!! I am just so excited to meet them all!!
    How’s the accent going? It’s still totally in my head! {I’m sure it’s the coverage on television all week!!}

  • Mortonkarena

    Jolly good! Cheerio, then!
    And my husband thought I was nuts too!

    My husband is English. He just doesn’t get why we Americans are so enthralled with the Royals and it’s hard to explain to him. The best I could do yesterday (since I got up at 5 to watch and he didn’t understand that either) was that most American girls and boys, my age, grew up with fairy tale stories of meeting a handsome Prince and having him save us from whatever distress we might be in. The whole damsel in distress, the dream of living in a castle…. I said, “THIS is why we’re so enthralled.” as I pointed to the t.v. He still doesn’t get it. Sarah, is the market in Dallas? I’ve been there once, 30 years ago when my dad was a textile salesman. It was overwhelming but glorious!

    I am making a quilt made from one of Jenny’s designs. It is made from a layer cake, cutting a 6″ circle from the middle, putting both the circle and the outside of the circle on to another 10″ square….making 2 blocks from just one 10 ” square. I will applique all of the squares, then when done, I will put about a 6″ outer border on..making it a nice queen! I am making this to use as a quilt to raffle off..giving the proceeds to the local food shelf! I will post pictures as son as I get further on it. Thanks, Jenny!! Nancy

  • Sarah

    How funny! I love that your husband thinks we are all ridiculous!! :) {although, my husband really doesn’t get it either! LOL} Spring Quilt Market is going to be in Salt Lake City, Utah and will be back in Houston in the fall (October). I think it can be very overwhelming, for sure!! I bet you had a blast with your Dad, just exploring everything!! What a fun memory!

    Oh Nancy! I can’t wait to see it!! What a sweet thing you are doing for your local charity! Happy sewing to you this week! :)

    hi sarah! I am thinking about making a quilt for my youngest son. Ive never made a quilt before but have always loved them when my grandmother or great-grandmother made them. I’ve been watching the tutorials on the different square and patterns for beginners so thats not my problem….i need to find boy fabric!! I love all the pretty girly, flowerdy fabric but i have four boys and i don’t think any of them would enjoy quilts made with those kind of materials. If you could suggest some fabric i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks so much for your help!!
