America the Beautiful…

Mom has been busy as a bee, whipping out quilts left and right!  We are continuing to get more and more new patterns in the shop {that we ordered from Quilt Market} daily and have been keeping the sewing machines running on FULL BLAST!

When we met Karen Bennet (and her family) at Market, we couldn’t have been more thrilled with her patterns.  She is a sweetheart and if you haven’t sewn with one of her patterns yet, you are surely missing out!  The pattern I am going to show you today is called ‘Freedom’ and it is darling!  It has 3 different projects to make in it and goes together so {sew} fast using Jelly roll strips and iron on applique.  We cut up some kits for this quilt, because it is just that darling!

Perfect for the Holiday coming up, to give as a hostess gift, use as a table topper, a picnic blanket or hanging as a decoration!

We do have a few kits left if you want to call the Shop and one of the girls will add one to your order!  {1-888-571-1122}

The next “patriotic” themed quilt project I wanted to show you is from one of our Local Ladies {and if you went on the bus trip, you’d know her. She was the bus trip coordinator} Carolyn and her Sister formed a company called ‘In Stitches’ and they love the Charm Packs as much as we do!  Here is her adorable and very versatile pattern called ‘Star Lit USA’

If you notice, we have two made up…One in Patriotic colors and one in Christmas colors!  Don’t limit yourself to those two holidays either.  This pattern in one of my favorites, just because it is great with any color combo or style of fabric.  Think about how cute it would be in batiks.  {okay, so I DO have a thing for stars}

Have a wonderful weekend enjoying yourself wherever you are.  Take a moment to give thanks for our Freedom.  I for one am beyond grateful to live in this beautiful Country.

God Bless the USA!

PS.  We are having the most fun ‘Patriotic Parade’ on facebook!  Please join us by sharing your project there!

Sugar Pop…

What a week I had last week!  Whew!  Glad it’s over!!  🙂  One thing I can always count on is that life is always interesting around here!!

We are just working like crazy on the website, getting everything updated and added.  I hope you have been able to see the improvements and additions!  Our little family business has just been growing like a weed.  (the good kind of weeds, you know the ones with pretty flowers on them.)

Anyway, here is a peak at the quilt top I put together using  the Sugar Pop line by Liz Scott from Moda. If you haven’t played with this line, you are missing out! It is so bright and colorful!  Just what I needed to keep the winter blahs away!

If you want the pattern for the top, here is Mom’s video tutorial:

Eden Quilt! A Jelly Roll and a Charm pack!

It is really a great, quick and easy top to put together!  All I need now is to pick out the border fabric and have it quilted!!  Don’t you worry, I will show you the finished project when it’s complete!

I hope you all have a GREAT Monday, and get lots done!  I am off to catch up on laundry and house cleaning.  (hoping I get it done fast, then I can work on another quilt idea I had!!)

Have a great day!

A Half Moon idea….{a jelly roll and charm pack}

Check out how cute this quilt turned out!  We used a Half  Moon Charm pack and a Jelly Roll, and just a tiny bit of Bella Solid Gray and WOW.  I am IN LOVE with the way this quilt turned out.   The lighting on the picture is bad (sorry) but I just had to show you this quilt.  It is for a girl whose colors are ‘ black and silver’ and I think this fits the bill!!

What projects are you working on?  The Christmas rush is now officially ON!  Are you prepared or running around like crazy trying to get it all done?  We have a few more ideas running through our minds that we will hopefully get done in time…..

Have a great Monday.

Sarah

Make Life Happy!

We just got the new line, Make Life (by Sweetwater, for Moda) in our shop and let me say, it is happy and bright.  I love it more than I thought I would!  We couldn’t wait to cut into it and make something.

Natalie put together a quilt using this line and we wanted to give you the directions so that you can make one for yourself!  This is a great pattern and has very LITTLE waste!  You will almost use every piece of both the jelly roll and layer cake.

You will need:

1-layer cake

1-jelly roll

Directions:  First cut your layer cake squares in half (5X10″ pieces)

then cut your jelly roll strips into 10″ strips.  (each strip will give you 4- 10″pieces)  2 1/2 X 10″ strips

Once you have all the cutting done, you take two Jelly roll strips (matching pieces) and sew on either side of the 5X10″ strips.  (each block should have one layer cake piece in the middle, with a jelly roll strip on each side)

Continue mixing and matching jelly roll pieces with the layer cake pieces, till all your strips are sewn together.

Then take your block and square them up to nine inches.

All you have left to do is lay it out and sew the blocks together!  Alternate the blocks to create the pattern.

Here is a picture of ours before it is quilted.  We are still deciding on borders and will update you when we are all finished!!

Finished top (without borders) is 68 X 86

Have fun putting this easy peasy quilt top together!  When we are finished with this we will have a pattern for you to down load.  Have a great day!

Tote Bags…

IMG_9817

Easy peasy charm pack tote bags.  We custom made these for a customer and she is using them as Christmas gifts.  Didn’t they turn out so cute?

I am working on getting a pattern written up for you all,  (i pinkie swear) so we can upload it and let you make your own.  They are so easy and fun.  We used one charm pack for the two bags on either end, and leftover pieces from an April Cornell jelly roll.  Then we covered a button with coordinating fabric, and BOOM….cutest thing ever!

You can never have too many bags, can you?

Have a great day!
