New Friday Tutorial: The Denim Strip Quilt with Special Guest Amy Barickman

MSQC New Tutorial on the Blog!

Make a Denim Strip Quilt with this Free Video Tutorial! Featuring Jenny Doan and Amy Barickman!

Quilting superstar Amy Barickman from Indygo Junction is here to team up with Jenny for a new tutorial, the Denim Strip Quilt! This is a great quilt for beginners because it looks so much more difficult than it is, so you can show off your skills without pulling your hair out! It doesn’t even require binding (though you could absolutely construct it like a traditional quilt with binding)!

Wednesday-DIY Wreath!

Happy Spring!  The weather has been absolutely gorgeous this week.  I know, I know, I am so spoiled.  🙂  It is always amazing to me how the weather can totally alter my mood.  {and my neighbors mood-my kids mood-my husbands mood- you get the idea}

Anyway-  I figured since the last wreath I did was for Valentines Day and it was still hanging on my front door, I should do a little something-something for spring.

I’ve seen some really cute wreaths out there already, so I just had to try something  myself.  I started with a plain grapevine wreath (you probably have one in your old box of seasonal decorations already.  I had to buy one at Michael’s for $4) and then I bought a bag of moss.

I made some rolled fabric- flowers and used a hot glue gun and this is what I came up with!!  There are a million and one tutorials on how to make the flowers, so I won’t do that.   But, here is a tutorial for the flowers if you’d like to make them.  I just LOVE rolled flowers, ask my sister. I am mildly obsessed.  I love them on headbands and pins and hair clips and purses and on and on.  Anyway, I do want to add a bit more to it, but I’m happy with it for now!

I feel better just sprucing up my front door!  I am just dying to plant some flowers, and start a garden.  A little early I know.  So I’ll stick with the fabric flowers a little while longer.

What are you doing to put some ‘Spring’ in your step?  I’d love to hear about it!

DIY Heart Felt Wreath

So, I was browsing the Internet (*ahem, wasting time.  please don’t tell my husband)  and came across this absolutely adorable wreath on ‘The Idea Room’ blog. It is a great site full of eye candy and ideas.  I hopped in the car (after I dressed my three year old, who’d rather be running around the house in his ‘Lightening McQueen’ undies) and went to pick up some basic supplies.  I think it turned out fabulously and I LOVE it!

It did take forever to cut all the circles out!  I had a great helper (thank Heaven for snow days) and I found it quite therapeutic to cut out the circles.  (more proof that I am crazy)  One tip:  make sure that you cut inside the black line, unless you want that to show on the wreath!  (another helper of mine wasn’t very careful, so I had to fix a few of them)

Go here to get the tutorial if you are interested!  Thanks to the Idea Room for that great idea!

Is your house all decorated for Valentines Day yet?  Or are you like me….I kinda wait till the week before.  🙂

Have a happy day!

Sarah
