New Friday Tutorial: The Wallflower Quilt

New Friday Tutorial: The Wallflower Quilt

Make this adorable Wallflower Quilt with Jenny Doan in her free video tutorial!

Quilts tend to bring out the nostalgia in folks. And it’s no wonder; there’s nothing quite as cozy as a well-loved quilt that is worn to a perfect softness, smells like heaven, and holds a lifetime of memories.

This week’s tutorial, The Wallflower Quilt, is a tribute to a very special quilt that belonged to Jenny’s daughter-in-law, Misty. Be sure to have a box of tissues close at hand! After all, quilts are love!

Here’s what you need to make this quilt. Click on the diagram to download a printable PDF.

When quilting this what design was used and do I quilt over the appliqué too?

  • We used a machine quilting pattern called Sticky Buns, Garrett, and yes, you can quilt right over the applique! 🙂

I’m working on a Wall Flower quilt top right now! It’s in black and white blocks with yellow petals. So far, I am loving it!

What thread color did you use that blends so well with all of the pieces, white, light and dark? I’ve made a top using the purple fabric line from the same maker instead of the pink but I can’t figure out how to quilt it so the piecing is prominent and the quilting fades into the background. I’ve looked at yours on the video and cannot figure out what color thread blends so well into the white and the darker pinks.
