Amplified Quilt

If you ever spot Jenny out and about, take a look around. There’s sure to be a tall, handsome fellow somewhere in your midst. (Sorry, ladies – he’s taken!) Ron Doan, aka Mr. Jenny, is Jenny’s #1 fan and devoted husband. Over the years, Ron has developed quite the talent for quilt design, and this week he is in the studio with Jenny to demonstrate his latest creation, the Amplified Quilt.

Sidekick Quilt Tutorial

All the quilts of my childhood had solid backs. Some pink, some red, some navy blue – all plain as plain. For years, it felt like the back of the quilt didn’t really matter at all. But when I started to notice pretty florals, sassy stripes, and exciting colors, I started seeing quilt backing as one more opportunity to let my creativity shine!

Jitterbug Quilt Tutorial

The Jitterbug was one of the most popular dances of the swing era, but how did it get such a funny name? Turns out “jitterbug” is just a combo of two cute little words: jitter and bug. But put ‘em together and you’ve got a name worth remembering!

This week we’re working on the Jitterbug Quilt. And, like it’s namesake, it’s based on two simple little elements: the 4-patch and the half-square triangle.
