MSQC Fall Forum Retreat Recap // 2015

When the Sewing Center first opened for retreats, we looked to our loyal Forum Members to give it a test spin and that’s how the Fall Forum Retreat began! This year, this fun group got to be here for our Birthday Bash and definitely added to the party!

A couple of retreaters even came from as far as Australia!

During the retreat, they all worked together to create this beautiful quilt, later named ‘Passing Pinwheels’. The tag reads: “Passing Pinwheels. A quilt pieced by many hands to provide warmth and love during your troubled time. Missouri Star Quilt Co. Forum Retreat – 2015” From @LOVEMYMACHINES on Quiltsby.me: “This quilt is a custom product of the ladies and gentleman that attended the 2015 MSQC Fall Forum Retreat. Everyone participated in pinwheel construction and layout of the quilt. The result is a beautiful compilation of multi-direction spinning pinwheels.” Click on the image below to read about how the name of the quilt was chosen!

Here is a group photo of all who were in attendance! Many of these retreaters came home with winnings from our Birthday Bash celebration, which you can read about HERE.

Mystery Quilt for a Cause 2015 (Round 2)

In February and March, we had the opportunity to work with Heather Spence, who helped us in hosting a Mystery Quilt for a Cause over on the forum!  This is our second time doing this event with Heather and we all just had a blast!

We love any time that a quilt can have a special significance and we love what Heather Spence has brought to this mystery quilt experience.  You can find her story/experience here:

blogheaderThis pattern is called “Check it Out” by Heather Spence and will be available for purchase soon through Heather Spence Designs.  We’re really impressed by all of the beautiful quilts that were finished!

Enjoy this gallery of quilts completed by some of the Mystery Quilt for a Cause 2015 Participants on the MSQC Forum!  Thank you to Heather Spence, RJR Fabrics (who created the kits) and all who participated to make this a wonderful event!

Okay, so the truth is out.  I LOVE the disappearing nine patch.  I have been raving about it like a crazy woman in the shop.

Seriously, is this not the BEST boy quilt you’ve seen in a while!?!?

Another thing that I just adore is when someone I have talked to about it, brings  back something she’s made and shows off her quilt top!  Those things combined equals the best.day.ever!!  😉 This amazing lady (who chose to conceal her identity 🙂 ) has already made two of these quilts.  (yes, I said two..and I think she’s planning on a few more!)  Her first was with the Soiree charm pack (Lila Tueller) and it was so darling!  Well, I just about had a fit when she brought this quilt in…..using our new Micheal Miller fabric and some bright Moda fat quarters!  I love how BOY it is….and how bright and fun it is!  Thanks Mystery Lady for stopping by to give me my very own show and tell!!
