Behind the Scenes: Photographing Fabric

Ever wonder how the fabric you buy gets loaded onto the shop website? Well, friends, wonder no more!

Meet Katie!

If a bolt of fabric arrives and it’s a print or solid that’s new to the shop, it passes her desk first.

She unwraps and irons each bolt….

Then places it under the lights…

Then snaps a photo!

Katie works hard to be sure the colors are represented accurately on the screen. Gotta help people find just the right red, you know?

I asked Katie how many bolts she can get through in a day. She gave me an answer… care to guess? First person to correctly guess wins bragging rights!

Fabric Favorites at Missouri Star

In case you hadn’t notice already, I’m just going to tell you…the quilt shop has SO MUCH FABRIC. It’s like a glorious, little (understatement of the century) fabric bomb went off in there. Fabric is coming out of our ears! I went around the shop and took just a few photos of some of our favorites:

Do you like gnomes? I love gnomes, and this “Gnome Living” fabric is just too adorable.

And I’m sure you’ve heard what the fox is saying, so naturally, it makes sense that he has a fabric line called “Forest Playground“:

Secret information: I can actually play the guitar…this is called “Jazz Between Friends“. I love how bright it is!

Then we love us some good, soft tones from this “Lost and Found” line.

I love the children’s fabric at Missouri Star! I have only made a quilt once in my life (a baby one, for my son), but every time I see theses fabrics I think about making another quilt.

It’s Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas at Missouri Star Quilt Co

But seriously, it is. Is it too early?? It’s never too early to start planning Christmas! I’m one of those people who shops for Christmas gifts through the entire year. I’m also one of those people who sometimes spoils the occasional gift by accidentally announcing, “I bought you this really cute skirt today for Christmas!” Oops.

Anyway, we’ve got our Christmas fabrics up in the shop and up online!
