Hamilton Visitor’s Guide: J’s Burger Dive

Today’s stop on the Hamilton Visitor’s Guide series is J’s Burger Dive! Nestled next to the main shop, right beside Poppy’s Bakery, J’s is a great spot to grab some lunch, dinner or one of J’s fabulous milkshakes!

You can choose to dine inside….

…or on the shared outdoor patio! Umbrellas are in place now for the summer!

The staff at J’s serves up tasty burgers and fries from 11am-8pm Monday-Saturday! Triple burgers! Cajun fries! Garlic pepper fries! Ranch fries! Yummo!

This is J! John is a former Navy diver, thus the name for his eatery.

The milkshakes have become SUPER popular! J and his staff made over 500 the first week and haven’t slowed down since!

J’s proudly serves up Blue Bell ice cream. A constantly rotating set of flavors means you’ll always find something yummy!

This crew of ladies visited the quilt shops from California, Missouri (yes! That’s a real city!). We caught them taking a mid-day ice cream break and they gave the ice cream a giant stamp of approval.

Hamilton Visitor’s Guide: JC Penney Home & Museum

Did you know that Hamilton is the boyhood home of JC Penney? It’s true! When you come for a visit to our quilt shops, you’ll definitely want to leave some time to visit the JC Penney Museum and boyhood home. And since Hamilton is a (fabulous) small town, everything is right within walking distance.

Just two blocks down from the main shop, you’ll see the JC Penney Museum at 312 N Davis Street. Hours are Monday thru Friday, 9am-5pm and Saturday from 9am-12pm.

Walk in, head to the right and you’ll find a room full of memorabilia!

Check out the gorgeous desk!

Open since 1976, there is so much history and a wide variety of unique retail artifacts here! If you’re looking for a place to send your husband while you shop, this is a great option!

Back across the hall is the Hamilton Library!

Head back toward the main shop and you’ll see the JCP boyhood home just across the street. Tours of the inside of the home are available. Just inquire at the Museum to see if someone is available to show you around!

Remember that part about everything being in walking distance? The building in the background is our longarm quilting building. Which also happens to be the old library!

Hamilton Visitor’s Guide: Penney’s Quilt Shop

Today’s stop in our Hamilton Visitor’s Guide is at Penney’s Quilt Shop, our Missouri Star solids and basics shop!

Prepare yourself for a giant dose of COLOR!

This building has some great history! Most recently it was a hardware store. Many many years ago, it was a JC Penney store, owned by JCP himself! It was his 500th store. How cool is that?

Did you know that Hamilton is the birthplace of JCP? True story! That’s a Visitor’s Guide post for another day.

Back to the fabric!

Penney’s Quilt Shop houses solids, minky fabrics and basics that don’t go out of print. A recent visitor from Kansas City said it was “like walking into a life sized crayon box.” We loved hearing that! Want a tour?

Along this wall, you’ll see all of our Robert Kaufman Kona solids.

We have just about every color and will very soon have them all! That sign was used for a traveling play about the life of JC Penney. A local Hamilton resident had it in storage and offered it to us. We LOVE how it looks and love that it is hanging in what used to be a JCP store! So cool!

There are solids precuts in bright and cheery bundles.

At the back of the shop, you’ll see our Shannon Cuddle fabrics. We’ve got every color, too!

The right half of the shop is home to allllll of the Moda Bella solids:

And we’ve got RJR Cotton Supremes and Free Spirit Designer Solids, too. More bolts of these arrive every day, so look for them to grow and grow!

Our Stonehenge section is also growing! It now includes hundreds of different prints!

Want blenders like Moda Grunge? Or Moda Weave? We’ve got you covered!

Are dots your thing? Tiny dots? Or maybe swirls?

Oh, I see. You’re more of a stars person? OK.

What about chevrons? Big or small, we’ve got them all!

Decorating this store is been fun! It’s such a big building, too!

Penney’s Quilt Shop is located across the street and down a block from the main shop, at 215 N Davis Street. It’s open Monday- Saturday 9am-5pm, just like the main shop, Sew Seasonal and the Mercantile. Phew! That’s four shops! Did you know a 5th one is undergoing restoration right now? For batiks! Hamilton Visitor’s Guide: Lakeview Golf Club Offer!

If you’re headed to Hamilton soon to do some quilt shop shopping, you might want to save this post for your significant other! We’ve got a golfing deal for them!

We notice many customers who bring husbands along for their visit to Hamilton. We love chatting with them on tours. But some of those husbands aren’t the fabric shopping type (can you believe that!?!) and we wanted to find something things to offer them.

Lakeview Golf Club here in Hamilton is offering our customers a super deal: 18 holes (and a cart!) for $20! Throw your clubs in the car, or borrow a loaner set from Lakeview.

Want to check out the scenery? It’s such a peaceful and quiet course.

To get to Lakeview, use this map or set your GPS to 7500 Golf Course Drive, Hamilton, MO 64644.

Be looking for this sign for the Hamilton City Lake on your right to take your your last right. Follow that gravel road until you get to the golf course.

Sew with Jenny: Classes at Missouri Star

We just wrapped up a Sew with Jenny class for the Float Your Boat quilt! Check out June and Kathy (above), who completed these quilt tops in one day!

Peggy had her birthday the day of the class, so naturally we celebrated with a cake from Poppy’s Bakery! Yummmmmmmm!
