KC Star fun!

I’ve been having a great time working on the Kansas City Star Quilt!

This is a quilt pattern that is provided free through the Kansas City Star newspaper on a monthly basis. They do a new one every year and the patterns usually have a historical link of some kind. I’m really excited to see the new blocks each month. I’ve been using the provided fabrics from the Missouri Star Quilt Company, and watching Amy’s (our resident applique specialist!) sample blocks closely, and working hard to try to stay at least close to on time! Hahaha! I’m already two months back since the May block just came out 🙂

These blocks are done in period style fabrics, I’m thinking it would be pretty cool to see one done in brights just for the fun of it!

April and May are still in the bag. 😀

I’m working on it, but it’s exciting to know that when I’m through I will have a serious treasure, that would have been quite an ordeal to attempt if I was picking up the pattern as a whole and trying to do it all at once.

Not impossible

I know 🙂 but very intimidating!

The Caldwell County Civil War reenactment…..

Our County, Caldwell County, will be holding it’s first ever Civil War reenactment. There is a lot of excitement buzzing around town about this event and we are proud to be a part of it. We are donating a quilt we made and are going to be raffling it off and donating the money directly to the local Historical Society.

My parent’s have worked tirelessly on it and have done an amazing job. They modified a pattern by Bit’s and Pieces and added two adorable Soldiers to the corners. The applique is amazing, done by our good friend Amy Gertz. We are thrilled to be a part of this community.

Extra charm pack squares? Oh Darn!

I don’t know about you, but I’m not about to let any extra charm squares go to waste!

These were left from a package of Soiree charms and I just thought I’d have a little fun with them!
So, just in time for warm weather and happy feelings, I have a new table runner!

Plus I got to try stippling another project! Fun! I’ve only done one other project on my own machine, so, it was cool to do it again!

It gives you such a great feeling knowing you did it all start to finish!
