Progress…

Progress…

This is a week about progress.  There is so much going on in our lives that I thought I’d like to focus on where we’ve been, and also where we are going.  I am driving to Hamilton for the week and am pretty excited about that.  I love being able to be back at the Shop, visiting-helping-working.  You know, the fun-busy-crazy stuff.

We {well actually, my brothers, Dad and husband} have been working on an addition to our shop.  We are making a room for a shipping department and that has me all excited.  I thought I’d show you our progress.  Since, we are going to talk about progress why not start at the very beginning, right!?!?

This is where we started…

Can you see the potential?? Just wait, it gets a lot better…

We bought this old building that was first a Car dealership (and repair shop) then later was an Antique Store.  We had a lot of work to do.  Ripping down walls, scraping wall paper and adding rooms.  We needed a furnace and flooring, paint and elbow grease.

Our family has always LOVED this sort of work. My parents {Jenny and Ron} have always bought old houses and we’ve all loved working on them together.  So buying this shop in the shape it was in, was a natural thing for us to do.

For the rest of the week, I will show you our progress on our little shop in Hamilton.  From start to finish.  {except that we are never really finished.  We are always growing out of what is done and expanding more than we ever thought.}

I’ll have more for you tomorrow….

What are you making progress on right now?  I’d love to hear about it.

    How exciting! So pleased for you all at the wonderful success you’re making with your company…

    That is exciting!!!! So happy to see good people prospering -especially in this economy. My progress this week is completing the piecing on my very first quilt top. It is all done, but now I need to learn how to FMQ – taking a class on Saturday. I don’t know if I will try anything on the quilt top first, or maybe try a table runner. After all that piecing I wouldn’t want to ruin it!

    Progress, who doesn’t like to see progress. So exciting. It is fun to look back and see where you have been, kind of like the before and after. I love seeing these pics, it is before the store was opened. Can’t wait to see……the rest of the story.

    Congratulations to you all for such a tremendous family effort. I can’t wait to see the finished result. I am only very new to quilting, but everything I know I have learnt from Jenny & the gals. Thank you so much for making my first ever quilt such a pleasure & joy to make. Every now and then I leave the machine to look at one of your tutorials to see what step I need to do. Your tutorials are invaluable. Now, if only I could set up my computer next to my sewing machine, I’d be in Heaven!! Love you all xx

    Love to hear all of the fun things and all of the hard work.  I am 75 and my husband and I have worked on a lot of homes to live in.  Some were so bad, when we got finished it almost like have a new home.  I long for those days.  But….I am still quilting.  Enjoy your family.

    This is very interesting and sounds like fun. Wish I could have a family adventure like yours! I love watching Jenny do the tutorials. I made a receiving blanket after watching that one a few weeks back. Now I’m working on a ball gown, not a quilting project at all. Actually I just finished it yesterday and the military ball is tomorrow night. I think it turned out great. Hopefully others will think so too.
