We quilters find inspiration everywhere we look! We see quilt blocks in the facets of sparkling diamonds. We see quilt blocks in patchwork fields of wheat and corn. And this week’s new quilt was inspired by…a tile floor!

Life on the American frontier was hard. There were prairies to tame, trees to fell, and fences to build. There was butter to churn, laundry to scrub, and water to fetch.
Despite such labor-filled days, those resourceful pioneer women found ways to whip up easy patterns like the Log Cabin block. These simple, pretty quilts were used not only as bed coverings, but as windows, room dividers, and doors, too!

Social distance. It’s a new phrase – and a new way of life – for most of us. But I think it’s a bit of a misnomer. Because even though we’re separated physically, we aren’t really alone! From video chats with grandkids to friendly greetings from across the street, there are a million ways to connect every day, and I’m sure grateful for that!
One little girl spent hours decorating the sidewalk with chalk. She drew a hopscotch that stretched from one end of her house to the other. As the neighbors walk by, they can’t help but hop their way through that ‘scotch. It’s the little things that bring us together, even when we’re apart!

Traffic jams can be caused by construction, accidents, or even a herd of cattle. (Wait…does that only happen in Missouri?) But did you know a tractor-driving sheepdog once created a terrible gridlock? So did a runaway robot, a massive Santa balloon, and a 42,000 pound honey spill! I must say, I prefer a Roadblock made of fabric!
