When I think about my grandmother, so many memories come to mind. Plates of warm cookies. Lemonade breaks on the porch swing. And, best of all, summertime sleepovers tucked under cozy hand-stitched quilts.
Today we’re working on a Grandmother’s Fans quilt. Made with a lovely 30’s reproduction, “Lazy Days 5 Karat Crystals” by Kaye England for Wilmington Prints, this quilt is as sweet and scrappy as Grandma’s favorite old quilts! Click HERE to watch the tutorial!
MSQC has figured out another great way to give you a whole lot of info in a little bitty clip. This is the Disappearing Hourglass block that only takes two contrasting 10″ squares, a few small cuts and you get a gorgeous creation with minimal efforts!

Cut out your half hexagons, place them between two 10″ squares, sew around the squares, and VOILA! A fantastic half square triangle block with a perfect hexagon in the middle. Check out the full tutorial HERE.
Don’t you just love when you find a new spin on a classic tutorial? Even better when you can combine 2 favorites and that’s what Jenny has done with this new tutorial on the Friendship Pinwheel Quilt! It may look challenging at first glance, but it’s nothing you can’t handle! Here’s what you’ll need.
Isn’t the result so beautiful? I would love to see a patriotic quilt made in this pattern or a bright summery pattern…. it has warm weather written all over it!
