In a starburst galaxy, stars form at an amazing pace. Unlike more common (aka: humdrum, lazy, and unremarkable) galaxies, starburst galaxies are pretty much super achievers, producing star after star after glorious, twinkling star. This week’s tutorial, The Starburst Quilt, will have you creating blocks so quickly, you’ll feel like a starburst galaxy yourself. This quilt is classically eye catching and oh, so easy! Here are the details:

Fabric is amazing. With certain quilt patterns, it’s like it has magical powers. Take the stripe, for example. Stripes have the power to make people look taller or wider… and when you put them together as demonstrated in this week’s new quilting tutorial, you get a beautiful, almost 3-dimensional effect! It’s the Quartered Stripes Quilt and you’ll never look at stripes the same way again!

I love a little shower of rain. It’s just so peaceful to sit at my sewing machine and listen to the gentle pitter-pat of raindrops on the window. It’s too wet to work in the yard, too wet to run to the grocery story, and way too wet to cut the grass. I’ve racked my brain and come to the conclusion that on a rainy day, the best use of my time is quilting! (Curiously, I’ve come to the same conclusion about sunny days, snowy days, and even plagues-of-locust days.)
This week we’re learning how to make The Spring Rain Quilt. It’s the perfect project for days that are too drizzly (or too hot, or too windy…). Click on the button below to watch the tutorial and get everything you need to make your own Spring Rain Quilt!
Cutting corners is usually looked down on. It’s the lazy man’s way out, ease over quality. It’s duct-tape car repairs and “premium” chicken nuggets filled with mystery meat. But when Jenny talks cutting corners, you can bet she’s talking about creating something that is as completely fabulous as it is easy! Today’s Tutorial, Cutting Corners, combines strip sets and half square triangles together into one gorgeously simple design. It’s scrappy and it’s clean at the same time!

One of my favorite things about quilting is how many simple, basic quilt blocks you can put together to create a completely awe inspiring design that is completely unique and your own. Even just changing the fabrics can transform a simple half square triangle quilt into a masterpiece! This tutorial is no exception. What looks like an intricate design is just a HST block snowballed on one side! Isn’t it beautiful? You can make it too!
It kind of looks like a scrappy chevron, doesn’t it? It’s just so cute! What fabric will you use to make your own version?
