Royal Wedding Quilt

On Saturday, May 19, the eyes of the world were fixed on the royal wedding of Britain’s Prince Harry and his lovely American bride, Meghan Markle. But my eyes? They were fixed on that veil!

It was 16.5 feet of flowing silk tulle with hand-embroidered flowers all along the edge: California poppy to represent Meghan’s home, wintersweet to represent the home of her prince, and flowers for each of the 53 countries in the Commonwealth. As you can imagine, it took hundreds of hours to stitch that garden of silk and organza blooms. And since they were working with such delicate, white silk tulle, the veil’s creators paused every 30 minutes to wash their hands. It was truly a masterpiece, but I’m exhausted just thinking about it!

This week’s new quilt, Royal Wedding, is based on the old English Wedding Ring quilt, but it’s so quick and easy, you’ll be well on your way before teatime! Click HERE to watch the tutorial!

Treasure Box Quilt

Australia is famous for its many national treasures: The Great Barrier Reef. The Sydney Opera House. Koalas and kangaroos. And, of course, the ridiculously attractive Hugh Jackman. You may not know, however, that Australia is also home to some of the best quilters in the world!

Keyhole Quilt

The first time I bought a car that locked with a keychain remote, I felt pretty special. That is, until that newfangled remote stopped working.

But after an accidental trip through the washer and dryer, my key fob came back to life, locking and unlocking the car doors again and again. Lock. Unlock. Lock. Unlock. Finally, I was forced to remove the batteries.

I learned a lesson that day. Sometimes simple is best. Who needs a fancy remote when an old-fashioned key and keyhole will get the job done right every time?

New Friday Tutorial: Tiny Wonky Stars Quilt

Some quilt tutorials are pure inspiration, some are adaptations of old classic patterns so they’re precut-friendly… and some tutorials are more personal! The Tiny Wonky Stars Quilt came about because Jenny’s granddaughter was headed off to college and obviously needed a quilt for her new digs!

All you need to make this quilt is some 2.5″ strips and some yardage! Let your imagination go wild, the possibilities are endless. Imagine this quilt in crazy bright colors, or make the stars yellow with a navy background! You could even arrange the blocks to create your favorite constellation!
