Tea Towel Apron Idea…

Wow, it is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is RIGHT around the corner!  I’m still mourning summer, but coming to grips that the Holidays are definitely upon us!

Since I just moved…AGAIN, my holiday plans are to lay low and keep it simple.

Us girls at the shop are coming up with some fun things to make as gifts or to brighten your homes with!  (soon, I promise!)

This morning I came across a really cute printable from Allsorts blog (Jenny B Harris) The little holiday lists are just plain adorable!  I printed mine right away (7) and made each one of us our own Christmas lists that the kids  can start writing down what they want!   I made one for myself also!  My husband NEEDS all the help he can get!  🙂  It was literally a 20 minute project that got me all inspired!  (and you know I love that!!)

I also wanted to show you  (pardon the Halloween fabric) just another embellishment idea we have using the basic tea towel apron pattern. It is just so easy to make these little aprons adorable and cute, using some holiday fabric and some trim!

Hope you all have a great weekend!

We’ll talk soon.

A sneak peak…

Mom has been busy with Jan Patek designing several new patterns that will debut at Market!  We are so excited for her and can’t believe this dream has come true for Mom.  Here is a sneak peak of Mom holding the kits she has to make into quilts before Market.  If you are going, be sure to stop by Jan’s booth (in the Moda area) and say hi to her!  🙂

We just finished up the shop hop, the taping and the visits from out of town friends.  We have had a busy (exhausting, really) last few weeks.  We have had lots of fun with everyone.

We have some awesome new fabric lines in or coming in soon!!  We ordered the entire Dr Seuss line (s) from Robert Kaufman, and can NOT wait to get them in here!!  I have already seen some awesome quilts made out of this fabric, and I’m dying to cut into it myself!

Hope you are all having a fabulous week.

Professional Classes!

Jenny has been hard at work filming professional tutorials the past few weeks.  She was approached by a company that produces high-quality tutorials on a wide range of topics to do a series of tutorials designed to teach people how to quilt.  These will be available for sale in the near future and we will post the links to get them for those interested.  They’ll be great for beginners!  Don’t worry though MSQC YouTube fans, we will still continue to release free YouTube videos on a consistent basis.  Check out a quick sneak peak of some behind the scenes filming action below!

Some Visitors to the Missouri Star Shop….

I was just browsing the forums and I came across this blog from Debi….  We LOVE having visitors, especially when they are this excited to see us!  🙂

We hope Debi won't mind us using her picture 🙂

Check out the blog post she wrote about her visit…and then you should plan a trip to come see us!  We are always thrilled to meet new people.  Mom is always ready to share her latest tips and tricks, and you might even see that beautiful Gammil Quilt Machine humming along.

If you do plan a trip, let’s do lunch.

Contribute for a chance to win a $25 MSQC gift card!

If you haven’t heard about the new Online Quilter’s Market be sure to read our last post.  To sum it up, it’s kind of like a blog of blogs, or a blog where anyone can contribute a post at anytime.  It’s a place where quilters can share ideas, knowledge, tips, tricks, patterns and projects.

To get the ball rollin’ we’re having a contest.  Anyone who contributes a post before midnight on August 26th is automatically entered into a draw to win a $25 MSQC gift card for the online shop.  All you have to do is participate to enter!

Furthermore, if you read the last post, you’re probably also aware that any post submitted also has a chance to earn a $5 MSQC gift card if it receives 20 votes.  You get a vote when someone (tell your friends to vote you up) reads and enjoys your post enough that they click the “vote” button (with the thumbs up icon on it).  In addition to the $5 gift card, the submission will also be featured on the MSQC Cutting Table blog and you will receive a “I was featured on the Cutting Table” badge that you can place on your blog if you have on.  If you don’t get a lot of votes on your first submission, don’t get discouraged, just try again!  You’ll soon get a feel for what the quilting community likes.

If you have a blog, this is a great way to funnel traffic your way, and you can easily set up your account so that your blog posts automatically get submitted to the Online Quilter’s Market.

Remember, you don’t have to have your own blog to participate.  Everyone is welcome!

Good luck and happy quilting!
