Missouri Star Shop Feature: Machine Shed

Do you love sewing machines and all of the latest gadgets? If so, our Machine Shed Shop is the shop for you!

Once inside you will find everything from templates to thread, rotary cutters, and even a wide array of Baby Lock and EverSewn sewing machines!

Templates galore! In addition to our Missouri Star templates, we also carry a multitude of other brands in every shape and size for all of your quilting project needs.

Two of our best selling sewing machines are the EverSewn Sparrow 30 and the EverSewn Sparrow 25 (the machine Jenny currently uses). Both sewing machines are great for all skill levels and are packed full of features at attractive price points!

Take a look at this gorgeous rainbow wall of thread! Between our Main Shop and Machine Shed we stock a variety of different brands such as: OMNI, Aurifil, King Tut, Gutermann, and even our own line of Missouri Star thread.

Meet Shelby, one of our fantastic employees! She is an avid quilter herself who enjoys listening to our guests’ stories and assisting them in finding the right tools for their projects.

Inspiration is everywhere here at Missouri Star! Everything from the quilts on display, to the bolts of fabric, and the murals will leave you awe-inspired! While in the Machine Shed make sure you also check out the motivational quotes on the walls.

Quilting Craziness 2019

Celebrate your favorite hobby all month long because March is National Quilting Month! We’re celebrating by making quilts, hosting a Missouri Star Employee quilt exhibit in Hamilton, and holding the very first “Quilting Craziness” tournament!

We invite everyone everywhere to participate everyday in the Quilting Craziness tournament!

The tournament features the 32 most watched tutorials from 2018 and pits two different quilts against each other everyday until there is a champion! The winner is decided by a popular vote that is hosted on our Facebook page everyday at 7:00 pm central time. (https://www.facebook.com/QuiltingDeals)

There’s no better way to celebrate National Quilting Month than with some free fabric, so be sure to check each day’s poll for your chance to win!!

Our Quilting Craziness bracket will be updated here with the winners everyday to help you watch the competition.

Missouri Star Shop Feature: Batik Boutique

While it may be winter here in Hamilton, once you step into our Batik Boutique you will be transported to a tropical island filled with gorgeous hand-dyed fabrics!

Batik fabric is created using a unique dyeing process in which wax is used to resist the dye. Where the wax is placed results in the design on the fabric, which can then be repeated to create even more intricate designs.

Considering that most batiks are manufactured in Indonesia, our shop was designed and decorated accordingly. From the blue stamped concrete, to the pebbled checkout counter and all of the island themed decor, no detail was left out!

Batiks come in every color of the rainbow and almost any design you could imagine.

Let your creativity run wild with all of our stunning shop samples and the precuts to make them below.

While in our Batik Boutique you may also run into Beth, one of our amazing employees here at Missouri Star! Beth is an avid quilter who loves to assist and share her knowledge with our guests.

Our Batiks shop has had quite the history! It was a bicycle shop near the turn of the 20th Century, until it was sold and converted into a barbershop, with a corner devoted to the town watchmaker and watchsmith. The shop then became a doctor’s office and later turned into a 2nd hand store before Missouri Star bought the building.

Flower Glass Quilt Tutorial

Today is the winter solstice—the shortest day of the year. Jack Frost has officially arrived with his chilly days and long, icy nights. But believe it or not, there are a few flowers that manage to thrive in the midst of such inhospitable weather!

English primrose brightens even the grayest winter day. Pansies add a splash of color against the pure white snow. But my favorite blooms of all are found on Jenny’s new Flower Glass quilt. These simple petals and hourglass blocks will keep you cozy all winter long!

Candy Twist Quilt and Bonus Table Runner

One hundred years ago, Halloween was more about tricks than treats. Instead of trekking door to door to collect candy, kids spent the evening pulling pranks on their neighbors. A little doorbell ditching here, a little property damage there. Frankly, I say bring on the sweets!

Everything is more fun with candy – even quilts! This week Jenny is stitching up a delicious Candy Twist Quilt.
