The Canyon Quilter

So I found an awesome video done by Megan Leigh Sweeney about Colorado’s “Canyon Quilters”  I don’t really have anything amazing to say, but I watched this and was just kept having cool ideas of things to do with our local ladies, and even our forum gals.  The laughs and fun topics and service documented in the video all reminded me of why I fell in love with quilting in the beginning.  It’s not the fabric or the hours spent picking out stitches, it’s you all, the late nights, the inside jokes, you are the reason I love this business.  It’s funny too, as you watch this I promise you’ll be reminded of some friend you’ve made along the way.  I’d love to hear what you were reminded of while watching this, so take a minute to send a note to someone who has made you’re quilting ‘career’ better or more fun.  PASS IT ON!!

What a wonderful video and a super group of ladies. (sigh) I wish I had a quilting group like that.

Heartwarming, even in the snowy mountains.

  • Nina Miller

I would love to join a group like this.

I certainly agree with you ladies about quilting. I belong to a local quilters group and there is nothing like ..
“the touch, the feel of fabric” and the joy of the finished project.

What a wonderful piece!! I wished I could be there to meet all those wonderful women and see their projects! And what beautiful country they live in!! Thank you for this!!

I’ve been living in city’s for quite awhile. This video really gave me that warm, fuzzy feeling inside, longing for a place in the country. I spent my high school years in the country near Lancaster, Pa. I had many happy times there. I feel blessed to be able to sew and thank my mom for teaching me and giving me a love of and an appreciation for all things creative.

Thanks for all of these nice comments. After I made this video, I decided I will take up quilting someday soon.

Thank you for sharing. It's so much fun when different ladies have the same love of quilting. I would love to come and sit in on one of your meetings – you Canyon ladies are great!!! Ü

I really enjoyed your video. My name is Molly and I am a charter member of the Christian County Quilters Guild in Taylorville, IL, would your group be interested in being pen (pin) pals with our group? Maybe a block swap? I have always thought this would be a good learning experience and also a great way to make new quilting friends. I will be returning in 3 1/2 yrs. and some of my friends are already planning a small group like you have. Maybe you can give us some great tips about what works for smaller groups. Our guild has a quilt show every two years, our next one is 6/11/11. Do you plan on making any more videos to share? Thanks for listening and happy quilting.

Thankyou for the video. I loved seeing some of the countryside where you live, which is beautiful as is your home. You look like you are all enjoying each others company and learn from each other too. I liked the music being played in the background, it was very apt. It was nice to be able to visit you for while.
