50-40 or Fight Freestyle Quilt

Before 1920, American women didn’t have the right to vote, but you can bet your boots they had opinions! And you can find a record of their political voice in the loveliest of places: their quilts!

When James K. Polk ran for president in 1844, he promoted a new northern border for the Oregon Territory at the 54°40′ north line of latitude.

Jenny’s Doll Quilt

Most of us can recall a special quilt or two from childhood. A cherished baby blanket. The bedspread of your grandmother’s sleepover bed. A favorite camp quilt or picnic blanket.

And you know what? I bet if you sift through your memories, you can even remember a print or two of patchwork, the smell of the fabric, and the softness of a well worn binding. Because the truth is, when you make a quilt for a child, you are making memories.

River Log Cabin Quilt

Ever heard of diamond rain? Sounds impossible, but lightning storms on Saturn produce thousands of little sparklers every single year! And here on earth, we can get some pretty remarkable precipitation, too. In 1887, giant snowflakes fell on a Montana ranch; one was measured at a whopping 15 inches! It may seem impossible, but “impossible” things happen every day!

This week Jenny is whipping up a little miracle of her own with the River Log Cabin Quilt. Because, while it sounds impossible, when you put together 1.5 inch strips and 2.5 inch strips in just the right way, all those straight lines transform into curves! Strings Attached Quilt

Chevrons have been a hot trend for a long time. (A really, really long time.) Jenny stitched up THIS version in 2015, and THIS one in 2012, but it goes back much further than that! Chevron motifs have been found on 4,000-year-old pottery and rock carvings – and, honestly, they’ve been cool ever since!

The Strings Attached quilt is made quick and easy with the 10” Rhombus Template, but it’s the vertical sashing that really sets this pattern apart! Click HERE to watch the tutorial!

Treasure Box Quilt

Australia is famous for its many national treasures: The Great Barrier Reef. The Sydney Opera House. Koalas and kangaroos. And, of course, the ridiculously attractive Hugh Jackman. You may not know, however, that Australia is also home to some of the best quilters in the world!
