Broadway Bound

Broadway Bound

As if we didn’t have enough going on, Mom decided to play a small part in our local community theater!  Did you know that theater was Mom’s first love?  All growing up we were involved in theater. Mom was always a lead, seamstress and had 7 kids involved!  (I am still wishing I had her energy!)

This time is especially special though, cause she has 5 of her grand-kids involved and Natalie, too!  The play is called Broadway Bound, and just has fun snippets from various Broadway musicals!  It has been a blast.

Last night was dress rehearsal and I was able to snap a few pictures.

Today, I am so thankful for a Mom, who not only taught us everything we know, she was fun and involved.  We had so many great experiences and I am grateful that even with her crazy-busy schedule she did this (mostly for her grand-kids) and they LOVE it!

If you are in the area, and want to come see it we’d LOVE that!!  The play is Thursday June 14th (eeek, tonight!) through Saturday June 16th

So….whats been keeping you busy?  I’d love to know!

Sarah

She is an amazing woman! You are all blessed to have her.

I wish I had her energy…..lately been slowing down a lot!

  • Maryann Sinclair

I have really enjoyed her tutorials, and after meeting her in person, realized just what a special person she is.  Her love of life and people come through her smile and her eyes.  It really is true that the eyes are the light of the soul.

One was in Chapman, KS the “LUCKY CHARM” where I purchased a load of Wizard of Oz fabric. Then I stopped in at THE MATERIAL GIRL” in Abilene and got more Wiz fabric. I have an idea and a pattern for two quilts from all of this. I ned too send a picture of my Wackey Web, I am quilting it now and should be finished soon

Wow, I can truly see that God has blessed your family with such loving and caring parents.  I will bet it goes back to Grandma & Granddad too.  I’m sure many will enjoy the play.  I work at Plow & Hearth (mail order catalog) and we give back to our community with free summer concerts held on the library lawn in our small town of Madison, VA.  Each month we provide a band that performs on a Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30.  Folks bring their lawn chair/blankets and everyone can relax and enjoy a time with family and friends.  We love to see kids playing on the lawn and dancing to the music.

I love your family and your company.  Thanks.

    You are all truely blessed.
What an example your Mom is to everyone.
    God Bless you all.

Great photo of Jenny. She reminds me of one of my favorite Broadway musicals – CATS. I am so glad that her grandchildren are in the play with her. We have enjoyed taking our grandchildren to the theater. Jenny is a talented and caring woman.

How cute you all look! Will she be singing ” Memories” in her cat costume? And are you girls singing ” It’s a Hard Knock Life!” in your picture? Wish I could see the show, I costumed our local theatre group’s version of Annie last summer. It got nominated for Best Musical in St. Louis’ Arts For Life 2011 Best Performance Awards. You all look like my orphans!

  • Blmatheson

Great photos, i’m very impressed with how much you can get done.  VERY Impressed

Oh how fun!  She looks amazin!  Break a leg!  You’ll finish up on my birthday – wish I could come to see it.

This weekend will find me sewing up my 2nd quilt top following your Jelly Charm lesson.

    Huggles!

I can barely chew gum and walk at the same time let alone balance all the things your Mom balances and accomplishes…I never cease to be amazed and inspired by your family.  <3 -EeyoresGal on the forums

LOL! This would definitely qualify as “a bad hair day”. She is one amazing lady. You are truly blessed to have  a mom like you do. I can’t even imagine doing all the things she does!

  • Sarah

Oh my goodness!! Jean, you called it!!  Mom is singing ‘Memories’ and the girls are singing ‘Hard knock life’!!!  WE are having a blast!!

  • Alana

Oh how I would love to see this!!!  But unfortunately I’m a few thousand miles away and can’t make it.  Jenny is such a super person getting involved with the kids.  She is a great role model….Koodos to her for all her unselfish efforts on all that she does.
As for me, well I am in the middle of a move myself.  Not quite the undertaking you have just been through, but a move none the less.  It is exciting though, to move to a new place and arrange things all anew……
    Hey Jenny!!!!  You go girl!!!!

  • Melinda

How cool! I just got a part in our community theater’s production of Seussical as the mayor of Whoville’s wife. Great fun!

Sarah, you and your sis/bros are so lucky, your Mom reminds me of my own Mom and she was phenominal, excellant sewer and remember well playing under the quilting frames in our dinning room while the ladies quilted at our house, Mama would give me my sack lunch and me and my dolls would play house and take my afternoon snooze under there.  The times she went roller skating with my friends and myself, to the swimming pool.  She could turn a collar on a mans dress shirt with perfection, or skin a small animal, when my brother decided to become a taxadermist, ha, ha!  It made him nautious (Poor, Charlie, he never did become a taxidermist.)  She was an artist and also had a great singing voice.  We never did Broadway musicals, but we could knock em dead swinging and singing on the porch swing.  You see most of this was during the depression and we never missed a hitch with Mom.  We had our birthday cakes during the war if she had to borrow sugar stamps to buy sugar to make them…………….My grandparens were great in helping us with the stamp thing!

  • GrammytheYeti

Awesome!  It’s great to get kids (of any age!) involved in the theater.  I too admire Jenny’s energy.  As if building a new store and running it isn’t enough – in addition to running a home and managing a huge family!  Whew!

Your Daily Deal shows a Welch Love Spoon today.  Wanted to share mine.  A dear friend (taken from us too early by ovarian cancer in 2010) gave this spoon to my husband and I for our wedding in 2001.  She and her husband were stationed in Germany with the military and she found this on one of her many jaunts around Europe.  She told me the story about it and thought it would make a nice wedding gift.  It still hangs proudly in my kitchen and always will.

    Jenny,
That’s a great thing you’ve done for all–having the play!
I enjoyed Natalie’s tutorial on creating a large and small circle quilt.  She’s following in your footsteps with continued grace in her video presentations.

Jenny is certainly “the cat’s meow”!  What does she eat for breakfast to get all her energy?

  • Nana5g

I envy women with boundless energy! What an inspiration. Lucky children and grandchildren!

  • Mimi Niesen

Loved seeing Jenny in costume. What a powerhouse and great role model to us all!
Jenny’s such a natural when directing her tutorials–full of self confidence. It follows that she’d be just at home on stage. How I wish I lived closer. I’d enjoy seeing the show!

  • Bellasquilts

Well, how did the play go? RAve reviews, standing ovations? That’s our Jenny!

  • Sarah

It was wonderful!! We just had a blast!

  • Duster802

BRAVO!!! You look absolutely awesome. As they say in show bussiness”break a leg”, (but not really )> I believe you had a cast o at one time. Please just have a purr – fectly great time.

  • Duster802

I to love the musical Cats & have the CD. Love the song Memories.

  • Kendra

I truly want some of her Vitamins and I could not keep up with her even then. A role model not only to her kids but I also look up to her as I am sure many do as well.
