Prayer Flag Jelly Roll Project – Quick and Easy

Prayer Flag Jelly Roll Project – Quick and Easy

Welcome to the “Let the good times [JELLY] Roll!” – our three day Jelly Roll extravaganza!  Starting today through Friday we have awesome deals on Jelly Rolls!  Each one will be OVER 50% off!

We have a few cool ideas to go along with our deals for you over the next few days!!  We hope you like them!

First up, I have been excited about playing with my Prayer Flag Jelly Roll from Moda Fabrics. I have tried a few different combinations, but my favorite came in using this super easy tube quilting technique. To do this, all I needed was the following:

1 Prayer Flag Jelly Roll

1 Natural Jelly Roll

Border fabric

We can handle this right?!!  I just sewed everything into tubes and went to it with the rotary cutter.

It went together in an afternoon, it was so quick, so easy, and came out great (I think! :-) ) I haven’t had time to quilt it yet, but I wanted to share it with you.  What do you think?

Also, today only, we have the Prayer Flag Jelly Roll on the Quilter’s Daily Deal for $16.95 That is an amazing price, so grab one!!

Update on the Easy Pinwheels

Update on the Easy Pinwheels

If you haven’t seen the super easy pinwheel check it out -

But there are some questions that arise when you are doing more than the standard charm pack. So we went to our users and they came up with some great info to work with. Try the following -

Here is what have discovered…Cut your squares of fabric:

3 3/8” = 4” Block

4 1/2” = 5” block

5 1/8” = 6” block

5 7/8” = 7” block

6 5/8” = 8” block

7 2/8” = 9” block

8” = 10” block

8 5/8” = 11” block

9 3/8” = 12” block

Now here is the formula, it blew my mind but thank goodness for calculators!

Finished block size x 1.41 = finished diagonal

Divide the answer, the finished diagonal, by 2. Add 0.875″ and round up to the nearest 1/8″ to find your parent block size.

There, aren’t you glad I just gave you the measurements?

—-
Pretty cool eh’!! Just to be sure, I did make the 4”, 5”, 6” and 7” blocks with those measurements and they were spot on. I hope this helps you all! Let me know how it works for you.

We’re back from Sweden and didn’t find any quilt shops!?

We decided to try something different this week. A video update :-)

Apron Tea Towel Pattern

Recently Mom got a great idea from one of our local gals around a quick and easy apron. You’re going to have to use your imagination a little bit here, but it so so so so easy! And it’s super cheap! Like $3 bucks if you have some scraps laying around for the pockets and straps, how awesome is that!!

The video is a little lengthy because there’s quite a few steps, but it should be really easy to follow along, or if you like the written word, we had a lot of ladies asking for it on the forums so we posted it there (Tea towel pattern on the forums) or go ahead and grab it right here -

Out of the boot-back to the boot…UGH!

Out of the boot-back to the boot…UGH!

It’s GRADUATION DAY!
We finally turned the corner on my ankle healing.
The Doctor said to remember that I am NOT healed but that I have finally turned the corner and my X-Ray shows clear sign of bone growth! Still no exercising and back to the boot if there is any pain, but….for the moment I’m free!

Get the boot the boot!

Give the boot the boot!

Here I am today with my boot off. There is still a lot of swelling as you can see. I had to loosen the buckles on my faithful Birkenstock, but I am out of the boot! I now have a new best friend …
‘brace’ yourselves, you’ll get a ‘kick’ out of this…
the ankle brace! Made in the criss -cross fashion of neoprene fabric,
this sports the latest fashion in ankle wear!

The new me!

The new me!

Yeah for me!!

***** SO, before we could even post this…..and get all excited for the Mama, she is back in the BOOT!!!  I know, I know poor her!  That stinkin’ ankle-leg-foot stuff just won’t heal!

Lucky for us, she has a fabulous chair on wheels that she uses at the quilt machine!!  :)   And she is amazing (gotten used to) using her left foot at the sewing machine.

Maybe by Christmas she will be out of the boot!  (my fingers are crossed, BIG TIME!)
