I’ve brought ya all I got, Captain!

Where are all my Trekkies at?!?!?!

Fabric, the final frontier. These are the voyages of the starship MSQC. It’s been 5-year mission: to explore strange new fabrics, to seek out new patterns and new friends, to boldly go where no quilter has gone before.

It is only logical to provide to newest fabric lines.

Dang it, man, I’m a quilter not a physicist!

Can you name the characters you originally said these lines? I might have taken some liberties with them, but I think I only made better what was already good!

We have a lot of things in the process…

We were in the KC Star Newspaper

So much is happening in our little neck of the woods!  Did you hear about our cool feature in the Kansas City Star?!?!  Holy smokes were we excited.  We got a picture on the front page even!  I asked Dad if in all his 17 years of working at the KC Star he ever thought he would be in a picture on the front page, he laughed and said not in his wildest dreams!  We were really just blown away by it all.

Sneak Peak Anyone? 🙂

Mom, Natalie and I have been working like crazy on our magazine deadline for the Christmas issue of Quilting Quickly.  ( yup, Christmas already!) We think you guys will love it! WE have filled it to the brim with gift ideas and fun projects to keep you busy all season!!

Getting ready to add the stone to the front!

Enough of that though….we are also working like crazy on the retreat center. Planning it out, and still in the process of construction!  I am picking out paint colors and flooring, doors and trim…you know, the exciting stuff!  🙂

Just FYI, if you want to be on a mailing list where we are sending special updates for the retreat center, make sure you’ve signed up for our retreat info email, we are just sending pics there right now, but eventually we’ll work on pricing and reservations and stuff through that list before we go public with it all. So, you know how I like to do fun facts during the holidays and things, well I have some about MSQC that are pretty mind-blowing. From January to June, MSQC has sent out 96,000 packages, quilted 600 quilts, cut 23,200 yards of fabrics and typed 56,000 emails and that was just the first six months!! You guys sure like to keep us busy, and we love it!

Happy Fourth of July!

So who’s gonna fire up the grill today with a cold drink in their hand while sitting on a quilt and watch the fireworks?

Flags-2

Just outside the shop

To get us in the spirit, here are some fun facts about the Fourth:

The Fourth was not a National holiday until 1941.

Benjamin Franklin wanted the turkey as the national bird but was overruled by John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, who wanted the bald eagle.

41 million Americans will not spend the holiday at home.

150 million hot dogs will be consumed on the Fourth.

87% of Americans own an outdoor grill.

The song “Yankee Doodle” was sung by the British during the American Revolution, making fun of the backwoods Americans.

In 1776, 2.5 million people were living in the states. Today there is 313 million.
