It’s F-R-I-D-A-Y!

Happy Friday Everyone!!

We had a funny moment at the shop yesterday (we actually have a lot of those moments)!! Below is a picture of our head quilter, Jamie. He had just finished 2, that’s T-W-O, king size quilts in a row and I think he was going a touch crazy. We started calling him Rambo, but it was to good not to share with all of you!

Now that we’ve all had a good laugh….let’s get to the good stuff!!

Retreat Center Progress

Hello Friends,

We have been really improving things on the retreat center, and it all seems to be coming together quite nicely!

The last few weeks we have made some major progress! Several weeks ago we got the insulation installed, and the plumbing rough-in started.  Almost all the electrical has been roughed in…and MAN, it’s looking good!

We have managed to save the old tin ceilings, and will re-purpose some of the old windows for decoration. (eek, my favorite!)

We have taken the entire front off the building, and are re-designing how it will look.  We will add a double door and windows to the front. I am trying to get my grandpa to design some stained glass windows also. (cross your fingers for me that he says yes!)  Ahh, it’s going to be awesome!!

Here is a peak into our progress:

2013-06-21

Here is how it looks today:  We are almost finished with all the brick tuck pointing! (see the pic at the top)  Hoping to get all the new windows in and doors this week!  We are also starting the sheet-rock by the end of the week, and couldn’t be more thrilled!  (although it will take several weeks to finish!)

We still don’t have a finish date, but are hoping it will be by end of August. Then to start furnishing it and getting it ready for all our amazing forum visitors in October!

I hope you enjoyed seeing a little snippet into our major renovation!  We sure do love a project, don’t we?!

Have a happy day!

Sarah

We have three awesome classes for you to take!  We will be teaching our adorable ‘Quick and Easy Pinwheels’ with Mom’s (Jenny) method that makes pinwheels a breeze.  If you haven’t already seen Mom’s tutorial on it, check it out, and you’ll be making these quilts like no tomorrow!
The second class we’ll be teaching is the Large Hexagon quilt!! Oh my goodness! This quilt is quick and fun also!  I love HEXAGONS!  And with Natalie’s template you can make these babies all day and not get tired of it!

The third class we’ll be teaching is the ‘Summer in the Park’ quilt!  This quilt is the coolest! Not like we love any one more than the other, lol.  It looks so hard and yet it’s SOOOOO easy!  I swear, you’ll fall in love with it!
See, Mom's getting crazy already! :)

Fabric Friday!!

 It’s Fabric Friday!!

One of our shippers, Kerry, got married last weekend and as you might have guessed, the month of June is the most popular for weddings. It got me thinking of what other things the month of June is known for? For example, did you know that on various dates in June, there’s a World Naked Bike Ride! Yikes! Here are some more:

Meet a Man Week – Second week         (Missed that one!)

National Go Barefoot Day – June 1

Old Maid’s Day – June 4

Go Fly a Kite Day – June 15

Eat an Oreo Day – June 19

Stupid Guy Thing Day – June 22

National Log Cabin Day – June 25

And I’m going to make official, this day in history shall forever be known as “Fabric Free for All!” Where all quilters and fabric lovers can buy as much fabric as humanly possibly without having to sneek it in the house so their significant other won’t see! You all know exactly what I’m talking about!!
