Fabric Friday!

Happy Friday!!

Since Easter is right around the corner, I thought I would include some fun facts:

The largest Easter egg ever made was over 25 feet high and weighed over 8,000 pounds. It was built out of marshmallow and supported by an internal steel frame.

The Easter bunny arrived in America with German immigrants in the 1700’s who brought an egg-laying hare called “Osterhase” and children would build nests for the colored eggs. Eventually the Easter bunny would expand his deliveries to include chocolate, candy, and eggs and nests would become baskets.

The first White House Egg Roll began in 1878 with Rutherford B. Hayes.

After Halloween, Easter is the biggest best-selling candy holiday in America.

It’s Easter!!

I can hardly believe that it’s already Easter!! Time has flown by this year, but I guess when you’re having as much fun as we do here it happens. This time of year always makes me want a bunny rabbit! Just like this one, isn’t he just the cutest!!!.

But since the cutest bunny in the world isn’t in my future, I guess I’ll fill the void with those Reese’s eggs (yumm-o) and fabric.

What can a precut make?

So I’ve gotten a couple a questions about what size quilt each precut can make, and it is a very good question. Every time I start to make a quilt, it always takes me longer to figure out how much fabric I need to make a certain size than it does to actually sew it together!!

All of the sizes given below do not include borders. By adding borders you can make your quilt bigger. Also depending on the pattern used, the end size can change, but that’s when borders come in handy, in my experience.

A quilt made from a fat quarter bundle all depends on the size of the bundle. One bundle can make anything from a full size quilt to a king size quilt. A fat quarter bundle is 18 x 24″ cut of fabric which equals a quarter yard.

I hope this makes shopping a bit easier, I know it will for me!

*There was a comment made about what these sizes were in inches, and I wish I had thought to included the first time. So here is a quick edit:

These measurements are general sizes and should be taken with a grain of salt:

Baby = 36′” x 54″

Crib = 45″ x 60″

Twin = 63″ x 87″

Double = 78″ x 87″

Queen= 84″ x 92″

King = 100″ x 92″
