We know some of you don’t use Facebook and we apologize that you won’t be able to enter this contest, however just as we recently had Iron Quilter, we will continue to have fun and exciting contests through our blog, YouTube, Forums and other sites.

Good luck to everyone!  Happy Quilting!

The Valentines winner:

Oh man, there were so many fun and entertaining Valentines stories!!  You all certainly kept me entertained this week! I was laughing out loud at some and sad at others, while a few were just heart-melting!  Ahh, love. Isn’t it just grand?

On to the Winners!!!  For the layer cake:

  • Valentine is a good day when I make giant heart shaped sugar cookies for my students to decorate at school. They love it and it’s fun to watch them.
    And for the Jelly Roll:
    • Rebecca M Kovach
I totally forgot! When I was quite young there was this little red-haired and freckled boy named Neil Burger who had a major crush on me. He came to our door and delivered to me this amazing pink, ruffled heart-shaped box of candy. I was so horrified and embarassed by the whole thing I took the box and shut the door in his face. My mother was, of course, furious at my behavior! I still have that box in my memorabilia. I’m sixty so I imagine that box is around 50 years old. If he only knew I’d kept it all these years, maybe it would make up for my incredible rudeness. I am assuming my mom made me call and apoligize. I really can’t remember how it played out and Mom is no longer with me to fill me in on the details. I wonder what Neil Burger is doing these days. Hopefully he has a sweetheart who treats him well and loves him lots.
Happy Valentine’s Day, Sarah and family!!!
I seriously had a blast reading all your comments!!  Thanks so much for participating!!  Please stay tuned, we will have many more giveaways coming up! And if you simply can’t wait on fate (to win) you can find our Valentines fabric here.
      Talk to you soon.
      ~Sarah

Valentines Day giveaway and a little about what’s going on with us!

With Valentines just around the corner, I thought we should giveaway some beautiful Valentine’s fabric!  As some of you know, we are giving a layer cake away on Facebook and I thought, heck, why don’t we offer something even better right here on the blog!  SO … I am going to giveaway a layer cake AND a jelly roll from the same cute Happy Hearts line by Adornit!

So, just like on Facebook, to enter all you have to do is leave a comment and tell us about your most special or worst Valentines Day.  I’m sure enjoying reading all the Facebook comments and can relate to so many – I can’t wait to see what you guys have to say!

Anyway, things here at MSQC are crazier than ever.  LIFE.  Whew, it can sure be exhausting!  I just want to tell you all how incredibly grateful we are for you and your continued support.  You might have noticed that our site’s been having issues.  Although most are not affected by these issues, some have had a really tough time browsing our site and even checking out.  Since we are a family business, working hard to grow and offer you more and more, we don’t exactly have extensive IT Department.  In fact, our IT department consists of little brother Al (he’s still little to me, even though he’s 6.7″).  Really, he is a one man show on the tech side of our business.  He has had many sleepless nights, and we love him for that.  After we switched servers to make things better, we had some lost code issues, the fix for which has been like finding a needle in a hay stack – fun stuff (I hope you sense my extreme sarcasm)!  We hope that things will be running flawlessly soon and that you will all have a wonderful experience browsing our site.  Despite the problems, for the most part, things are much better, faster and we can handle more traffic.  Please rest assured that we are working diligently to get all the ‘bugs’ worked out.  Our intentions are only to have a better site that will offer you all more.

Most of you have been amazingly patient!  And we thank you for that.  If you do have an issue please, oh please email us info@missouriquiltco.com or give us a call.  We want to help you in any way that we can.  If you must leave a message we will call you back!              888 571 1122

Back to the giveaway, please do tell us about your funny-awesome-horrific Valentines experiences!  I can’t wait to read them all!  I’ll pick two winners via random.org on Wednesday night and announce it Thursday!

Iron Quilter – We have a WINNER!

After months of waiting, we finally have our Iron Quilter!  Before we reveal the winner, we’d like to thank all who participated in this contest for their hard work, creativity and passion for quilting.  All of the submissions were stunning and enjoyed by all.

Before we announce the winner, we’d like to mention a few things.  First of all, we limited the contest to one comment (with up to three votes) per IP address (per computer).  This was to make the contest fair, as it is possible to one person to vote multiple times under different accounts/aliases, which is not in line with the spirit of the competition.  This disqualified a portion of the comments, but we still had over 1000 comments  (over 3000 votes) from unique computers that counted.  As we plan to have similar contests in the future, we’d ask kindly that you leave it to us to make sure the voting is fair and accurate and avoid disparaging remarks about others in the comments section.  Fortunately, most of the comments were extremely positive and encouraging towards the participants who worked so hard to make their projects.  We are excited about doing a similar competition in the future and are already discussing how to apply your suggestions to make it even better.

Okay, enough rambling!  Now for the moment you’ve all been waiting for, the announcement of the Iron Quilter!  Here we go … the winner is … drum roll please … with 322 votes … Project # #17!  Congratulations on winning not only 15,000 Quilter’s Cash points, but also the respect and admiration of the people!  You did an awesome job and we all loved your creation.

Entry #17

In second place was project #29, winning 7,500 Quilter’s Cash points.  Great job!

In third place was project #33, winning 5,000 Quilter’s Cash points.  Congrats!

We will be in touch with the winners about how to claim their prizes.  Again, we are so thrilled with the level of participation and enthusiasm you all displayed in this one-of-a-kind contest.  Happy Quilting!

The Iron Quilter

********UPDATE********In the comments below, many of you have expressed concern that some individuals appear to be voting multiple times for the same project under different aliases. Although we cannot control this, the spirit of the competition is that each person have only one opportunity to vote (and can vote for three different projects in their comment). We understand this concern and desire to make this contest as fair as possible. We have decided that we will only be counting one vote per IP address (aka – per computer). We realize this will not completely stop any unfair behavior, however it will do a lot to level the playing field. For those who choose to participate in the voting, we kindly ask you to vote only once to show respect for all the participants have worked extremely hard on their projects. *****

First of all, can I just say how amazing it has been to observe the sheer creativity in the Iron Quilter submissions as they’ve rolled in over the past two months.  I’m still astounded at the variety of projects that came from everyone using a common ingredient.  Quilting is truly as good as the creative minds behind it.

If you’re joining us for the first time and haven’t a clue what Iron Quilter is, check out the kick-off video that was released at the beginning of November and read the contest details.

The entry period of the contest has ended and now we’re in the home stretch.  Here’s how you can still get involved!  From now until midnight of January 16th you can vote on your favorite Iron Quilter submissions.  All you have to do is comment below on this blog post and list your THREE favorite submissions (you will see that each submission has a number that corresponds with it).  Each of your votes counts as a point (note – you can not vote for the same twice).  Feel free to also add some additional kind words to recognize the contestants for their hard work in completing and submitting their projects (during a very busy holiday season).  The winner will be announced on our blog on Tuesday, January 17th.

So without further adieu we present to you our Iron Quilter submissions, all using the specialty cut Moda Summer Breeze charm packs as their primary ingredient.  We have posted one picture of each project below, but will be posting more pictures (if available) of the projects on Facebook in the next few days (they will be public, so you won’t have to be a member of facebook to view them).

Good luck to all those who entered the contest!
