Whirlwind of a week!!

Love this quilt with the tumbler and Origins charm pack!

Oh BOY!  I had grand plans for last week!  And a lot of things happened, just not anything I had planned!

Funny how that happens….almost all the time!  🙂  hahah!

First of all, we were under-staffed for the first part of the week, with vacations overlapping and some extra orders to process!  🙂  Luckily, I was there (at the shop) and got to help out!  I just love being there and being able to help!  (I sometimes have withdrawals!  it’s hard being so far away!)

So it all worked out, and I’m glad for the way it did.  Once Wednesday came around, we were back to normal and I still had lots to do!  I got a call….you know, the dreaded ‘phone call’….the one where they say your son was doing a back-flip on the trampoline and fell off.  they say he’s fine, but limping and probably should have his foot checked out.  Darn, so off I went to pick him up and find a doctor!  🙂  Actually, it all turned out well.  He didn’t break anything, but deeply bruised his foot and has to stay off of it for the week!!  Ahhh, so much better than a cast.  I won’t lie and say that I wasn’t absolutely freaking out, inside!  School is starting this week, he starts soccer this week too and we still have our family vacation to go on!!  So, really we got very lucky!  He is even able to walk (with a limp) on it now, which is a huge improvement!

I really didn’t get to all that I had planned, but still I had a successful-happy-at least we are all healthy- week!

Life really is what you make of it, isn’t it?

I’m choosing to be happy. {this week, hahahaha}   What are you choosing?

Jelly Roll Race

The first Friday of every month we have a ‘Friday night Sew’!  Anyone and everyone is invited to come sew with us!  Everyone brings a snack to share and a project to sew.  This week we ‘spiced’ it up a little with a Jelly Roll race!  It was a total blast! The Ladies were crazy and sewed the night away with most everyone finishing a quilt top!  We just love the group of women who come every month and look forward to visiting and catching up with them all.  Such great friendships have been made and  whenever we get together we have a ‘rolling on the floor’-laughing out loud- good time!
Just check out these quilt tops!
The tops were finished in record time {approx. 45 minutes} Amazing!  Some of the fabrics that were used,  Terrain by Kate Spain, Summer House by Lily AshburyDogwood trail by Sentimental Studios, Full Circle by Kathy Schmitz, Kona Solid Dusty Palette, Max and Whiskers by Basic Grey, Butter Cup by Fig Tree and Swiss Chocolate!
The finished size before a border was [approx] 58 X 60  Such a great size for a gift and a fast, easy project!

Show and Tell {a sweet email}

A few weeks ago I got this email.  When we receive mail like this it really makes us appreciate you all and makes all the difference in what we do.  Our whole point in being in this industry, is to make this particular craft-hobby-art {whatever you want to call it} accessible to everyone.  We want everyone who has the desire to quilt to be able to.  We want you to have access to quick and easy tips and tricks to build confidence in this overwhelming world that quilting can be.

Most of all though, we want to have fun.  We want YOU to have fun.  So, letters like this certainly make us smile!

Here it is:

Hi, Missouri Star Quilters!

From across the state, you (and specifically Jenny) have saved my life and sanity time and again. I don’t remember exactly which YouTube video hooked me on Missouri Star,  but I do know that after seeing the video about the Dresden Plate template, I rushed to the basement and hauled out my Eleanor Burns Underground Railroad quilt top that I’d started about 10 years ago but never could get past the Wagon Wheel block. So I located the template and, voilá, I had that circle finished. I loved the points so much, I couldn’t bring myself to chop them off, but I’ve decided that my wagon wheel has the spokes included:

I then went on to finish the quilt. By then it was Christmas, and I watched Jenny make a ModPodge cookie plate, which only took a hot second and matched my new table runner perfectly:

I guess I was the grandest tiger in the jungle when I served the family Christmas morning brunch on my coordinated tableware.

Then I got a link from some quilter’s site or another for Jenny’s Craftsy videos. I couldn’t resist… I just had to sign up for both! My daughter-in-law was wanting a Cardinal’s baseball quilt, but there’s not a yard of Cardinals fabric left in the universe. As I was watching one of the beginning sessions about the disappearing nine-patch block, I thought about a disappearing four-patch, and in no time, I now I have the center of the quilt all pieced:

Oh! And what’s a quilt without matching pillows? The only problem is that I’d never made pillowcases and, even though I intellectually know there’s nothing to them, still, I just couldn’t bring myself to cut the fabric until I watched another of Jenny’s YouTube videos on pillowcases. So now they’re all finished and waiting for the quilt top:

One of these days when the weather turns even remotely decent, I’m driving across the state to visit. 😉

Lee Beasley

WOW!!  Lee, you have clearly outdone yourself!  I love seeing the projects you made!  I loved hearing your story!!
Thanks so much for sharing with us all!
I hope you all have a great weekend! I’m planning a little road trip with the kids! I have some redecorating in the Shop to do and schedules to make and lots of other things!   🙂
We’ll see you Monday!

On the machine….{making me happy}

Isn’t this just darling!?!?

If you know me at all, you would know that I love Amy Butler.  Her fabrics are kinda wild and crazy {but so am I} and I just love them.

This is a quilt we received in the mail from an online customer, for machine quilting.  WHAT!?  You didn’t know we did that too?!?!!?  Well, yes of course we do!  Check it out on our website here.  And if don’t see a specific stitch you want, call us.  We will totally help you out!  🙂  Did I mention we have a QUICK turnaround?!!?  Like, 2-3 weeks.  I know, I know.  Amazing, right!?

Anyway, life is a bit crazy right  now (duh, summer is in full swing) but I just wanted to say hello and let you have a peak into what we have going on…..

So this is it,  the quilt on the machine is definitely making me happy today!

What about you??  What is making you happy today!?
