Stars and Strips! And yummy Tonga Treats!

I know!  Isn’t this just darling!?  If quilts could talk, this one is saying “Hey, I’m summer and bright and happy! What are you?”  {ok, does that make me a little crazy?  Actually writing up a conversation a quilt would have. I know it sounds strange, but my quilts really do talk .}

I LOVE this line of fabric (Lollipop) we got from Timeless Treasure!  It is called a Tonga treat.  {same exact cut as a jelly roll. 2 1/2 inch strips. It’s just not pinked.}  Anyway, the batiks that Timeless Treasures put out are fabulous!  I love them.  I could ‘pet’ them all day and not get tired of it. Ha-ha!  {I know a few of you out there know what I mean!!}   We have two different color-ways (with more coming in) and it’s like my children….I just can’t pick a favorite!  See them here and you’ll know what I’m talking about!

For this specific quilt we used a pattern from  Atkinson Designs {love her patterns} called ‘Stars and Strips’!  The pattern was great and the quilt went together fast!

Doesn’t it just look darling in the Shop!?!?  Come on in and see it for yourself!  And if you can’t make it in, just think of this post as your own little show and tell!  🙂

I hope you had a wonderful weekend!  Make Monday the best and get some quilting done!

See you soon, Sarah

Relay for Life…Why she is helping and how you can too.

Dawn is a dear friend/customer who has given marvelous advice and been a great help to us.  She is donating a quilt that is being raffled off for Relay for Life.   If you want a chance at a quilt that has hung on our walls and is absolutely GORGEOUS donate today!

A letter from Dawn, in her own words:

My Reason to Relay

I am participating in the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life
because I want to make a meaningful difference in the fight against
cancer.  I have family, colleagues, former classmates, and friends
affected by cancer, with some winning and some losing this fight.   My
Team may just have one person listed, but it is also the heart and
souls of Valent field staff, my colleagues, friends and family~ as our
field of dreams should be endless!

We are making a difference by teaming up to participate in the
American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life.  Saving lives from cancer
starts one team, one participant, and one dollar at a time.  It also
starts with one hope, just believing that there are cures to be found.

Valent USA has a home office in Walnut Creek, California, and has been
making quilts to raffle off as a fundraiser for Relay for Life.
This past year, one of our Valent Team quilters, Nancy Engman, lost
her battle to melanoma skin cancer, but we are continuing on with the
quilts.   My colleagues in California made a quilt called “All Around
the Neighborhood.”  I made some of the flowers in the quilt and I
decided to donate a quilt that I had designed and the MSQC quilted to
the cause!    See it at Missouri Star Quilt Company:

By joining or donating to our team, you will be a part of a
life-changing event that gives everyone in the community a chance to
celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved
ones lost, and fight back against a disease that takes too much. And
as a special bonus, every $10 in donation is a raffle ticket towards
winning one of these quilts!

Please support our efforts to fight cancer by making a donation. The
impact we can make together is much greater than what any of us could
do alone!

Show and Tell

I’ve recieved several emails from Caroline and she has been a busy girl!  She has made some amazing quilts!  I am just blown away.  Today I am going to show you all the amazing work Miss Caroline has been doing!

First up is her ‘Strips and Stars’ quilt.   {She used this tutorial}  I just love the solid black background against the bright colors!

This next one she made for her Great Granddaughter (born June 10th) She used a Buttercup charm pack and this tutorial.

So sweet! Just perfect for a baby!

The next one is just a beautiful as the others!  She made the X’s and O’s Quilt that Mom taught in her online class with Sympoz, and used the fabric ‘Lovely” by Sandy Gervais for Moda.  I just LOVE the way it turned out.  One of the best lines this Spring for sure.  (in my opinion, of course. *wink*wink)

Last but certainly NOT least, she is working on a Dresden Plate quilt!  Like I said, Caroline has been a busy girl!

She used the Wild Flowers IV and it just looks stunning!

Caroline has certainly stolen the show {and tell} today!   Thanks for showing us your amazing handi-work Caroline.

I just love each of your sweet emails and appreciate you taking the time to send us your pictures!

FYI:  We had a Fed-X semi truck pull up to the Shop yesterday!  Oh my stars!  We have SO MUCH new stuff, we are busting with excitement!  So, just stay tuned!  We will be showing and talking and sharing with you all about it!

If you can’t wait one more minute for Hometown by Sweetwater, or Deb Strains new line ‘Meadow Friends, we have them in!  SO EXCITING!  {So much more.  And all the yardage too!}

Have the BEST Wednesday possible!  🙂

Talk to you soon!

Fun at the Lake…Family togetherness {and Mom went tubing}

Our family reunion was an absolute blast!  All the cousins had such a great time playing, swimming and just being together.

Mom brought her sewing machine to the lake, and I insisted she keep it in the car!  We had too much family-bonding to do, and I wanted her to relax!  {just so you know, that Woman LOVES to sew}

We haven’t been to the lake in years and this year was perfect.  We really had a blast!  We played spades, ate great food, swam and swam and did our best to just relax.  On the last full day we were there, Mom went out on the boat with us and decided she wanted to get out on the tube.  Mom {Jenny} has always been one of those Mom’s that did everything with us.  Crazy-bold-fun, that was Mom.  I was a little surprised by this, but not too much!  🙂

Anyway, she went out and had an absolute BLAST!  Look at her face!  She loved every minute of it!

She even caught a bit of air!  GO Mom!

Well, thanks for indulging me on all this family-business.  Don’t you worry, we have lots of quilting goodness coming up this week!  Some great new patterns, some AWESOME show and tells and even some new products we can’t wait to show you!

Have a WONDERFUL Monday!

Sarah
