America the Beautiful…

America the Beautiful…

Mom has been busy as a bee, whipping out quilts left and right!  We are continuing to get more and more new patterns in the shop {that we ordered from Quilt Market} daily and have been keeping the sewing machines running on FULL BLAST!

When we met Karen Bennet (and her family) at Market, we couldn’t have been more thrilled with her patterns.  She is a sweetheart and if you haven’t sewn with one of her patterns yet, you are surely missing out!  The pattern I am going to show you today is called ‘Freedom’ and it is darling!  It has 3 different projects to make in it and goes together so {sew} fast using Jelly roll strips and iron on applique.  We cut up some kits for this quilt, because it is just that darling!

Perfect for the Holiday coming up, to give as a hostess gift, use as a table topper, a picnic blanket or hanging as a decoration!

We do have a few kits left if you want to call the Shop and one of the girls will add one to your order!  {1-888-571-1122}

The next “patriotic” themed quilt project I wanted to show you is from one of our Local Ladies {and if you went on the bus trip, you’d know her. She was the bus trip coordinator} Carolyn and her Sister formed a company called ‘In Stitches’ and they love the Charm Packs as much as we do!  Here is her adorable and very versatile pattern called ‘Star Lit USA’

If you notice, we have two made up…One in Patriotic colors and one in Christmas colors!  Don’t limit yourself to those two holidays either.  This pattern in one of my favorites, just because it is great with any color combo or style of fabric.  Think about how cute it would be in batiks.  {okay, so I DO have a thing for stars}

Have a wonderful weekend enjoying yourself wherever you are.  Take a moment to give thanks for our Freedom.  I for one am beyond grateful to live in this beautiful Country.

God Bless the USA!

PS.  We are having the most fun ‘Patriotic Parade’ on facebook!  Please join us by sharing your project there!

Ahhh, I need a vacation!  :)

Ahhh, I need a vacation! :)

This week and next might seem a bit light in posting.  I am preparing to take my family to the Lake!  Ahhh, I could use a few days of sun-water-and relaxation!  :)

The best part about it is that it is a FAMILY REUNION vacation!  Who can resist those?  We will have a crazy-good time.  Memories will be made and I am sure we will have more than one water fight!  {did I ever tell you about the time Mom {Jenny} broke her back, water fighting with us when we were kids?}  It’s a good story.  *wink

Not sure where I found the image above {somewhere online, ugh wish I could remember} but it really spoke to me.  I am looking forward to spending time with and taking care of those closest to me this week.

What are your plans?

ps. we are SUPER excited about this.  We are busy working on our project right now.  Do you love embroidery as much as I do?

Show and tell… Disappearing nine Patch edition

Show and tell… Disappearing nine Patch edition

Oh boy, do we have some fun things to show you today!

Today is all about the Disappearing nine patch! This one was sent to us by Judy.  She added embroidery to her blocks and even personalized it with the babies name and birth date!  How neat is that!?

I love this quilt.

The next one is from Traci.  Another DP9 and she also added a little flair.  {isn’t that great about quilting?!  taking a block or pattern and making it your own!} She used a combination of two  different charm packs, ‘Just Wing it‘ and ‘Sugar Pop’ and I just love they way it turned out.

Aren’t those circles ‘too die for?’ I love how fun they are on the border!

The best thing about the disappearing nine patch is that you can ‘set’ it so many ways. {like Judy did with solids, creating the ‘hourglass’ look} It is great to see all the different ways you make them yours.  I bet that whoever you plan on giving these quilts to will be thrilled!

Thank you Traci and Judy for sharing your quilts with us.

If you have a quilt you would like to share with us, please email me.  We would love to show {and tell} everyone about it!

Have a great weekend.  I have lots planned to do at the shop.  We have expanded the shipping room {again} and have lots of shelves to put together and some paint to do.  I’ll try to get some pictures and show you what we’ve been doing Monday!

See you then…

A perfect weekend…

A perfect weekend…

Our Father’s Day weekend was wonderful!  We had a get together with our old neighbors {Mom and Dad moved to town when we all moved out…sad.}

There was croquet {boys only game} haha, and badminton {fun} and a tractor ride!  We roasted hot dogs over the fire and had an absolute blast visiting and relaxing in the good old country!  :)

The farm is the most peaceful place on earth and I just miss being there, and soaking up the simple life.  {obviously, living on a farm is extremely hard work, it still just has the sense of simpleness that I love and miss}

The weather couldn’t have been more perfect.  It was simply the best way to celebrate Father’s Day.

I hope your day was special.  Ours sure was.
