To Market to Market…a small sampling of our adventure.

What a blast! We had WAY too much fun at Quilt Market and I can’t wait to show and share all the details with you!

First off we started out at ‘School House’. That is where the designers and fabric companies have mini classes to share the new things (books, fabric, patterns etc.) that are coming out. Think of it as happy-fabric-loving women running around like crazy to get from class to class! Seriously. Insane.

I was excited to see the Moda Bakeshop crew promoting the new book they have out. {we have it coming…don’t you worry! I’ll let you know when it comes in!!} It was fun to see power-house bloggers like, Vanessa {from V and CO.} the cute trio of Sweetwater Kim Walus {bitty bits & pieces} and Natalia Bonner.

Seriously, it was a riot. Vanessa was glad she didn’t pee her pants, {her words} and I can attest to that. She did NOT pee her pants, but I can totally understand how nerve-racking that presenting in front of that many people would be!! LOL.

I know, I know…I shouldn’t stop here. We had many-many-more classes that we went to and I plan on filling you in on all of them! Classes, Sample Spree, the show, the booths…Oh-so much!! I just have to get my suit case unpacked and I will fill you in on all the details!
I promise.

See you soon.

Fantastic Five Contest – Five Days, Five Prizes of 5000 Quilter’s Cash Points!

I’m so excited.  Wanna know why?  It’s because I’m off to Quilt Market in Salt Lake City tomorrow, and Quilt Market is tons of fun.  I’m excited to blog all about it when I get back.

While I’m gone though, we’re having a fantastic contest – a fantastic five contest to be precise.  Here’s the scoop:

There are many ways to find out what’s going on here at the Missouri Star Quilt Company.  We’ve got this blog, a newsletter, a Facebook fan page, our snazzy Quilting Forums and even a big old YouTube channel.  We love keeping in touch with you through all these channels of communication.  If you follow MSQC, you’ll know that we LOVE to give out deals and run fun contests, and that’s why we’re excited to announce the Fantastic Five contest.

The contest runs for five days and there are five ways to win.  We are giving away five prizes of  5,000 Quilter’s Cash points (equivalent of $50) to five lucky winners (that’s a lot of fives!), one on Facebook, one on The Cutting Table Blog, one on our Newsletter, one on our Quilting Forums, and one on YouTube.  This gives you up to five chances to win!  Here’s what you have to do (each task on this list gives you one chance to win – if you do all five you have five chances!):

  1. Comment on this blog post
  2. Subscribe to our Newsletter – that’s it!
  3. Join our Quilting Forums and post a comment in the Fantastic Five Contest thread.
  4. “Like” our Facebook page, and answer the latest question on our wall.
  5. Subscribe to our YouTube channel and comment on the video The Double Slice Layer Cake Quilt.

Doing all five of these things takes 10 minutes tops, but remember, you’re not required to do all five to enter the contest – each one represents one chance to win, so the more of them you do, the better your chances!  The contest ends at midnight this Saturday (May 14th).  The winners will be announced and contacted shortly after.  Good luck!

Let’s go fly a kite…

You know.  After a pretty awful week, the weekend turned out to be spectacular.  Really.  Having a plan, the beautiful weather and a picnic.  How much better could it be.

We have the best parks in our area, and because we are new, each one is an adventure.  We went on a ‘park-search’ and picked the first one we saw.  Granted, it was pretty small, even compared to the one right down our street, but it was perfect for us.  We put out our jean picnic blanket and ate our lunch.  *My youngest, who is 3 was really worried about Yogi Bear stealing our pic-a-nic basket.  {the kids had just watched that movie last week, LOL}  I had to assure him several times that I would protect the basket.

The weather was PERFECT kite flying weather and in no time all the kites were up in the air!  Yay! {I just bought the cheap plastic kites and they were great! Plus we lost two to the trees, so I was glad I hadn’t spent a fortune.}

I didn’t get any sewing done, but we did make it to two other parks.  There isn’t quite anything like a nice day in the sun.

It really was perfect.  Thank you all for encouraging me to just GO, and for all the sweet condolences.  The quilting community is just the best.  I am so glad to be a part of it.  Thanks.

Now, I am off to pack my bags for SALT LAKE CITY, baby!  Can you believe it is already that time?!?!  QUILT MARKET, here I come!  I am getting so excited! I have so many fun things planned out there.  I will try to snatch up some new fabric {from sample spree} and bring you back a little treat and we can have a giveaway right here on the blog!  Doesn’t that sound fun!?!?

I hope you all have had a fabulous weekend, a happy Mother’s Day and a great week ahead!

We’ll talk soon.

Sarah

Better late….

Not sure if that is really true or not.  Haha.  This week has been a little tough for my family.  My husband lost his Grandma and had to leave Tuesday for Canada.  I had to stay home with the kids {cause we haven’t gotten passports for the kids, yet. }  So I have been holding down the fort, so to speak.

I sure do miss my husband when he is gone.  Out here {where we just moved} I feel especially alone, because I really haven’t made a ton of friends and haven’t been here long enough to really know anyone.  I was so spoiled living amongst my family.  I had instant friends and if I ever needed anything, they were there.  What a brat, huh.  It has been an interesting adjustment for sure.

Well, I am planning on getting more work done on my ‘quilt in progress’, if I can get those tension issues resolved.  {still working on that…See, it would have been so easy if Mom was just down the road! Haha.}  🙂

I hope that you all have a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend.  I am going to take my kids to the park for a picnic and kite flying (if we have enough wind) and just relax.  I’ll take pics and share them on Monday.  I still have a million and one things to get ready before i leave for Market….I’ll get to it.

Can’t wait to show you some of the awesome things we’ve been up to…

Sarah
