A Sassy little apron…

This week at the Shop, Mom made this apron using a new pattern we got in.   It turned out awesome.  I love the detail, that cute little ruffle and the buttons.  Who wouldn’t feel “all dressed up” to clean [or cook] in that little number?

I do have to say that I am in love with the fabric!  It is from ‘In the Beginning Fabrics’ and you’ve probably heard about it, the line is called ‘Housework Whenever’.  It has some way cute quotes like, ” Happiness is relaxing after the shop  hop”  When I learned to sew, I forgot how to cook”   and my favorite one ” A clean house is a sign of a broken sewing machine!”  I just think it is such a fun vintage-y fabric…and I enjoy the wit and humor.

The pattern is called Sassy little Apron, by Barbara Brandeburg. It is adorable and went together really easily.  A perfect thing to make for yourself (stash buster) or as a Hostess gift!  (or wedding shower gift)

GO, sew something today!  [you won’t regret it]

St Patty’s Day is coming:

SO how do you all celebrate St Patrick’s day?  I have seen some adorable shamrock pins and headbands on the Internet this year and some other fun things as well.

It reminds me of my childhood and the crazy things my Mom used to do for us.  The night before the holiday Mom would put a drop of green food coloring in the glasses.  It would dry, and in the morning we would fill up our cup and magically have green milk or water.  We actually really thought is was magical.  Or she would die the entire carton of milk green.  That was especially fun….[insert a little sarcasm]    🙂 I had a difficult time eating cereal with green milk.

If it isn’t supposed to look like that I would get really grossed out.  Remember when they tried to sell ketchup in all those crazy colors?  Ew.  that was just nasty to me.  🙂  Or like when Mom made us green eggs…mmm, not my favorite.  But she did so much stuff that just made our lives extremely fun, and I am grateful for that.

This year I think I will be the crazy Mom and put food coloring in our glasses….just to see what the kids think.  🙂

What are you planning on doing?  Making any corned beef and cabbage?

*Oh, and don’t forget to wear some green.  One year I tried to get away with wearing a yellow shirt and blue pants {because, duh.  blue and yellow make green}  🙂  But, NO…it didn’t work.

Have a happy day!

Jan Patek Applique

We are just having a blast with Jan Patek every month.  She is teaching us all the tips and tricks to make applique so much easier.  What is more fun than a bunch of women getting together, doing what they love (sewing) and sharing a snack!?

If you haven’t been in lately, you will have to see all the new stuff we have in.  We have some really (awesome) displays of Jan Patek quilt kits, fabric, patterns and finished quilts.  They are just beautiful.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend, wherever you are!

Hello March…

How was your weekend?  (the last of February) I had a great time.  I got away with my husband, did a little shopping and cleaned house.  There was even enough time to whip this little baby out….It is a new pattern called Tumbleweeds, by This and That.  We used the Looking Back charm pack, (it is actually the deal of the day too!)and I love it!  Isn’t it just so pretty?  The colors are so rich.

Not sure what has gotten in me, but I have organization on the brain.  I am obsessed with planning and throwing things away.  I have been going through kids closets, toy bins and bedrooms with garbage sacks all to be donated.  It feels so good to get rid of the excess stuff !

On the down side, I want to remodel EVERYTHING, re paint, add shelves, new furniture  ETC.  Why can’t it all be done in a weekend?  And WHY oh WHY does it have to cost money?!!?  Well, as I narrow down my list, and make it a little more realistic I will share with you what we will actually be able to do.  [cause if you saw what I have now, you’d KNOW I was crazy]

Maybe I’ll do some before and after shots….I don’t want to bore you though.  🙂

Well, go have a great Monday!  Get busy doing your thing.
