Embroidery…and a little decorating

‘White Christmas tree, white Christmas tree….how lovely are your branches.”

Well, if you were paying attention, I mentioned in my last post that we had some snow days to spend together and that I still hadn’t decorated yet….  Here is what we came up with.  This year we have a WHITE Christmas tree.  ( i got it on CLEARANCE after Christmas last year)  So lucky.  Anyway, I have been dying to make a pom-pom garland FOREVER, and finally bought all the pom-pom’s I could find.  (no, really.  It’s true)   Yesterday, my girls and I watched a movie and strung those bright (awesome – cute-can you tell I’m excited) pom-pom’s together.  We all had a blast and it was fairly easy.  (7 year old stuck herself a time or two with a needle.  Only a few tears, and we were done.)    So, today we decorated the tree in non-breakable ornaments, aka 2 year old proof.

I used to decorate anyway, and be all diligent about keeping the little hands off the tree….Not this year.  It is so much less stress….I don’t fret one bit about the ornaments being thrown across the room, during a make believe baseball game.  I am happy with it, and really glad that I am not constantly in fear.

After all that I figured I better get started on my embroidery project…..this one is so cute.  So, tedious…..but so worth it!  (by tedious, I mean lots of small intricate details.  But that is what makes it so charming)

Here is a peak:

How cute are those presents? And cakes?

Believe me.  It is darling.  But, it is gonna take me a while.  I will show you when it’s all finished.  I promise.

So, what is keeping you busy this week?  Any one else been stuck at home?  🙂  Heheeh….really I have enjoyed it.  The kids and I are having a great time.   I think cookie baking is next on the list.  Yes, baking and decorating!  Mmmm…and fudge.  Let’s make fudge.

Have a great day.

ps. sorry about the bad picture quality.

Friday night ladies…a Christmas Party (and show and tell)

Oh man, did we have a party.  We had so much fun.  Our Friday night Ladies all got together at the shop for food, fun, sewing, games and a gift exchange.

We had fat quarters flying across the room, laughter, FOOD and even some show and tell.  It was a blast.

stuff againMom even got in on the action.  Some ladies won big, then gambled all their winnings away!  Haha!  Who knew we’d all be so entertained by flying fat quarters.   🙂

Now on to the Show and Tell….I may be biased but I do have to say that our customers come up with some amazing things.

6picturesforyouHow cute are those snakes on the back of that tumbler quilt?  Adorable!  Plus, the heads on the snake are little pockets that flip out.  SO cute!  Then we have the altered squares quilt (our in- shop pattern) done with Fresh by Deb Strain.  I just LOVE the bright colors in that line!  (i wish I had saved some for me!!)  🙁   Maxine also made that cute baby quilt using a honey bun…I love how she did a piano key border.  Seriously.  Love it.

Then there is some of our group after the hilarious present game!  Wow, we had such a good time.  I wish all you out in cyberspace could have joined us!  Thanks to all the Ladies that made this night such a HUGE success!  (you know who you are… Deloris and Bernice!)  🙂

What have you all been up to lately?  Anything exciting?  I am stuck at home enjoying a lovely snow storm.  My kids have been out of school, so I have been trying to enjoy them (hahaha) no really, I am. (trying) We have been busy decorating and drinking hot chocolate!  (with marshmallows of course)  I am hoping to get some embroidery  started.  See how I put started…..I may be behind on a few projects, but if my only goal is to get started, I figure that shouldn’t be too hard.  Right?

Wish me luck…

We’ve got something new…..shhh…. Westminster Fabrics does Precuts!

My ~oh~ my,  am I excited about them!!  Seriously….we have some AWESOME things in the works using these gorgeous fabrics!

I am 100% certain you are gonna love it as much as I do.  (and that’s a LOT)  🙂

Oh and guess what?  We got some Nicey Jane (yup, Heather Bailey) fabric  in yesterday!!  We are working on getting them up online for you all to enjoy!  *squeal*   I may have teared up, when I opened the boxes….Seriously.  I love it!  We don’t have the precuts YET…..but we will!  (i am pretty sure we bought everything they had)  🙂

Just more to look forward to.  Lot’s more!  🙂

Happy Friday! DO something FUN!  (like, shop! or sew!)

Creative Customers….

SHoppity

So this is a fabulous idea (if you ask me)….  One of our Customers came in to show off a project she had made with kids in an after school class.  She used muslin, drew a picture (or had them draw) and let them color in with fabric safe markers.  She plans on giving them to the parents as gifts.  What a cool idea, huh!  Keepsake potholders! I think I am gonna have to try this with my kids!  (i bet my Mom would love some ‘grandchildren’ made pot holders!) I just love anything that involves kids in crafty type projects.  (and those bright colors! My favorite, get me every time!)  🙂

What do you think?
