Tote bag frenzy…

We have been busy (ok, Mom (aka Jenny) has been busy) I’m such a poser, making tote bags.  We used the latest Bags Pillows and pincushion magazine from Better Homes and Gardens for the adorable Christmas themed one.

We used a Holly Jolly Snowman charm pack and coordinating fabric.  For the other two, she (Mom) just whipped them out, all pattern-less and everything.  (She’s good like that!)

I am so in love with all of them.  That super cute one done in brown and pink was with a Sultry Charm pack and I want it for my own!  :)   And don’t you just love those fabric covered buttons!?!?!  Yum, yum, yum!  (that is another addicting craft, if you ever need an excuse for more of those.)  :)   The other purses that are up there, one is  made using the Shangri La charm pack and the other was made using a Floral fabric from Benartex. (very shabby chic)

So, all I am saying here Ladies is….if you have the itch to make a purse, do scratch it.  You won’t be sorry!  :p

Oh, and I just had to put the picture of my finished baby boy nine patch quilt!!  Hot off the Quilt Machine!!  Isn’t’ it AWESOME?!!??!  I love it!  (I know, broken record, huh)

No, there are no dogs at my house, and we’re not talking about “belly rolls”!

I did grab this jelly roll from my local quilt shop though, hehe, and am very excited about making some quilted boy and girl changing pads for my little boy Jack.

So I’m having tons of fun just opening the fabric and playing!

I’m also pretty excited about the girl prints!  There are some great retro style fabrics to choose from with great pink and purple color schemes :)

This is a really fun and EASY table runner!  First you pick your charm pack and for this runner we chose Baskets of Flowers!

I have made this runner in all seasons of fabric and it is always just as cute!

Then you are going to lay out your fabrics.   When you lay it out you start with 1 row of 2,  and 1 row of 4, then 5 rows of 5, back to 1 row of 4, and 1 row of 2.  If this is totally confusing hopefully the pictures will help clear it up.

You sew the charms together in rows.

Iron the rows as you complete them.  Press the rows in opposite directions so they will nest together when you sew the rows.

Lay out the completed rows and stagger the colors.

You start attaching the rows and nest your seams together.

Your first 2 rows are going to attach like this, as will the rest.  You will be staggering them to get the zig-zag effect on the sides.

When you attch the 3rd row it will only stagger on 1 side as you are making the end.

Start adding your rows of 5.

When you finish adding the 5 rows of 5 you will add a row of 4 and you last row of 2 to finish the top.

Make sure you press the top well and then layer a piece of batting on the bottom, the back comes next right side up and finally the quilt top right side down.  PIN WELL!

Trim around all the edges.

Leave an opening

Leave an opening

Sew around all the edges 1/4 inch in and leave an opening on one end so you can turn it.  Clip off the points and clip in the “v” to the stitch line.  Turn the quilt and push out all the points.  Then press well. Close the opening and top stitch all around the edges.  Then machine quilt in the ditch, (or any way you want) to finish the runner.  I have have the finished photos stuck on my camera and I will post them as soon as I can get them off!

hangtag_glaceSo we got a few new goodies in this week that I am in love with!!  First, we got the new line from 3 Sisters called Glace` (I don’t know if it’s pronounced Glace or perhaps because of the ` it’s more of a Glaciye, with a French accent? :-) ) but yeah, it’s great.  We got it in pre-cuts and some great bolts with it.  We love it so much!  And to help get the word out about our yardage that we’re carrying online, we’re doing a deal where if you get a Glace precut, and some Glace line yardage, you get 10% off, pretty sweet eh’?  Check out all the Glace` here.

Our other big news…. Riley Blake fabric.  I am in love with Riley Blake and the “In My Mind’s Eye” line.  I’m already looking to fill out our selection of ole’ RB.  Check out everything we’ve got of Riley Blake here.

Wow(zers)….

Wow(zers)….

It is hard to believe that we are finished with the reenactment…the quilt show and the quilt raffle.  It has been an amazing and fun experience.

Our Friday night Gals really stepped up their game and helped us out tremendously.  We all got together Friday night to hang quilts and things went together great.  (Our Ladies even dressed up in Civil War Era costumes….It was awesome!)

We have so much fun with you girls!  Thanks so much for all of your help!!  ( we had over 50 quilts in the show!  WOW)
